I just finished my bottle of Hugo Boss Deep Red perfume today so I decided I should write a review about it. Someone bought me the perfume last year either for my birthday or Christmas and it was part of a gift set. If I can remember correctly the whole set was in a large square shaped box, which was mainly red in colour with a picture of the bottle of perfume on the front of it and Hugo written in large bold white lettering. The packaging design was really plain and simple but I didn't care because I had a new fragrance to add to my continuously growing collection. Usually when I choose a perfume for myself I tend to pick ones which have nice bottles or packaging because usually if the packaging and bottle is nice then the perfume smells really nice too. However if I was out shopping myself I wouldn't have even considered buying Hugo Boss Deep Red because the bottle and packaging are too plain and simple for my liking.
The bottle of perfume
itself is quite plain and simple in design just like the packaging. The bottle is a rather odd shape, it is a cylindrical bottle which is about 5cm wide at the base and gradually gets narrower towards the top of it, where it narrows to about 2.5cm. The bottle is deep red in colour, and has a shiny chrome lid which fits on the bottle quite tightly, so there's less chance of losing it in the bottom of your handbag. The perfume has a silver chrome spray top the same colour as the lid on the bottle. I only had one problem with the spray top on the perfume and that was when I only had about ¼ of the perfume left on the bottle. The perfume wouldn't spray out and I had to hold the bottle at an angle in order to use the remaining perfume which was left in the bottle.
The perfume is an Eau De Parfum, which means that the scent lasts for quite a while. Personally I prefer an Eau De Parfum because you have to apply the perfume less often because of its staying power, resulting in the perfume lasting you a lot longer.
When using Deep Red I found that the fragrance lasted for over 8 hours, and its one of those scents where you leave a trail of the scent behind you wherever you go. Although the perfume is long-lasting it isn't strong and overpowering like you may expect because of its staying power. I found it to be quite light and fresh with subtle musky and vanilla tones. I wore this perfume mainly as my everydaycasual perfume but on some occasions I wore it on nights out simply because of its staying power and nice fragrance. You could wear this perfume for any occasion, wither it's for everyday use, special occasions or night time, it's a flexible perfume and different people will use it for different occasions, its just down to the wearers own personal taste.
The perfume is made up with top notes of Clementine, Blood Orange, Pear and Blackcurrant. Middle notes of Freesia, Pittosporum, Ginger Flower and Amber and base notes of Cedar wood, Vanilla and musk.
Hugo Boss describes the perfume as being sensual, provocative and passionate with a fruity-floral fragrance. I agree with their description to some extent although I wouldn't put this perfume in the fruity-floral category because it smells mainly of vanilla and musk with just a faint scent of blackcurrant and pear. I suppose Hugo have put the perfume in the fruity-floral category because it has quite a lot of fruity top notes in it.
As I said at the beginning of my review I got this perfume as a part of a gift set and along with the 50 ml bottle of perfume I also got a 50ml tube of body lotion and a 50 ml tube of shower gel to compliment the fragrance. Both the shower gel and the body have the same packaging and look the same. They are really plain and simple in design just like the perfume and the box. The shower gel and body lotion are both deep red in colour with silver plastic screw on/off lids. They are in the form of tubes and sit upside down with the lids on the surface which they are sitting on top of. I thought this was really handy because I got to use all of the lotion and shower gel which was left inside the tubes without having to shake the tubes to get the remaining little drops out of them.
The shower gel and the body lotion both smell just like the perfume and leave your skin scented. The only difference between them and the perfume itself are that don't smell as strong as the perfume. They have a much lighter fainter smell which is quite delicate and sweet and they don't smell as musky and deep as the perfume.
I think that this perfume would suit any one of any age because it has the fruitiness which will suit the younger wearer and has the vanilla and musk which will suit the older woman. So as well as the perfume being a flexible fragrance for all occasions it is also a flexible fragrance for all age groups to wear too.
I am quite disappointed that I have ran out of this perfume because it smells gorgeous, but I will buy another bottle of it soon when I have used up some of my other fragrances in my collection.
Because this perfume was a gift I don't know the price which was paid for it so I searched the internet for the cheapest prices for the perfume and gift set and these are as follows.

I highly recommend Hugo Boss Deep Red perfume because it's a flexible long lasting fragrance which isn't too heavy, flowery, fruity or sweet.
