I am now about to go into my fourth year in the human science department, based in the wavy top building (yes, it does have a wavy top). It's based close to the union compared to many departments which are over by the library, and also it's nicely next to a pub which serves the local drink 'nasty' (snakebite and black, or diesel to some) and very cheap food (but tasty too).
The department itself is split into three: ergonomics (of which I am in), psychology and human biology (although it is possible to do psychology with ergonomics). The department is small and prides itself on its friendliness. There are quite a few lecturers of all shapes and sizes, but few enough so you get to know them and most of them know your name (not always a good thing though!).
The department has received top marks for teaching for the past few years in inspections. The main core of the department is run by the secretary, Mary. A very helpful lady who it's wise to be kind to, as she can do everything! However beware on wednesdays as that's course deadline day and the mood she's usually in is not pleasant..
Another problem with wednesdays is the computers. Human sciences are rare at Loughborough because they have their own little computer room just for us. It has about twentyfive computers which is plenty until wednesdays when there can be a huge queue. However you can gain access through a keypad code 24 hours a day, which is rather handy when a deadline is approaching.
The subjects them selves are well taught, usually being a mix of lectures, turtorials, coursework and exams. There is a lot of help available on the university's website for each subject and some lecturers even put the lecture note on there for you (rather handy if you happen to be ill that day with a hangover).
In general, a very good department that most people would feel at home in. And if you have any complaints while you're here, you can join the committee and tell them yourself!
Advantages: best mix of attributes of any university in britain Disadvantages: not a good place for slacking off
Durham is a beautiful experience from the moment you arrive on the outskirts and see the awesome cathedral and castle towering over the countryside. Five things in favour: (i) collegiate system with 16 unique college experiences ranging from traditional on the bailey to modern on the hill; (ii) highly ranked science and humanities departments with world reknowned faculty that cares about undergrads; (iii) purpose built science site with amazing modern facilities by british standards; (iv) excellent sporting, social and fine arts opportunities for all - not just the few; (v) a happy, engaged, good looking and confident student body that has both high IQ and EQ. The main downside is that it can get quite cold, although at least it rains less and has more sunny days than most other parts of the british isles. Also, Durham is small so it ...
Advantages: Small and friendly. Disadvantages: No arts subjects.
Aston University is in the centre of Birmingham. It used to be a science and technology college but changed into a university in the 1960s. Aston does not offer any arts or humanities based courses but specialises in science, business and languages.
The Aston University campus is very little but that means that everything is very close together. It is a friendly university and has a great reputation. As a student you are encouraged to do a sandwich course, thereby increasing your employment after university chances by about 400%.
Because Aston do not teach arts subjects or philosophy courses etc, most of the Aston students do go into business which is how the employment rate of graduates is so high when compared with other Unis.
I would recommend Aston to anyone. Facilities and resources are excellent. So is the teaching. ...

Quite a few of these departments are ranked in the top 10, and many of them are rated very highly for the research they conduct. While the social science departments have flourished in recent years, some of the science ...
