Advantages: ease of setting up. Good on screen info. easy to use. Disadvantages: none that I have found
...I had a Touch Box 4 freesat box which, quite frankly was a waste of time. The Humax box has been a revelation. We watch our programs all the time through it now. My first impression was its small neat size, not dominant at all in the cabinet. Living in the "sticks" I was stuck with 4 channels and quite poor picture quality. I only have an SD TV but the picture quality has improved considerably. It is sharp with good colours. My last set had manual set up but the Humax is fully automatic. I had trouble inputting the post code. It would not accept the space using either the handset or on screen system. So, I tried the code without the space and it worked. It is so easy, even I could do it (at 73, I do sometimes have problems). I only have 2 minor criticisms of the unit. I have to set the volume to maximum to obtain the required...

Advantages: Good price for what is a Freeview upgrade AND a recorder in one Disadvantages: Welcome to the wonderful world of software upgrades!
....
Of course, all of this presupposes that you can find anything to preserve!
To get the best from playback, do try to establish the best setting for your SCART lead, as the box can accept Composite (the poorest two-wire connection), S-Video (better) and RGB (the best), so if your TV can accept a variety of input qualities, match the Humax to its best setting in the set-up menu.
The rear panel also carries phono-plug connections for the composite video (yellow), and analogue stereo sound (red and white). Purists will like the optical (S/PDIF) Dolby Digital sound link for connection to a home cinema amplifier, although since Freeview carries nothing in the 5.1 channel format yet, stereo is still all you’ll hear.
FIRST SECOND AND THIRD IMPRESSIONS

Advantages: Never miss a programme Disadvantages: U-G-L-Y
...I recently bought this freeview player as my old one packed up and I am so glad I did!
The Humax 9200T is a basically a freeview player that has a built in hard drive. For anyone that has ever heard or used Sky + then this is exactly the same thing.
Firstly if you were to look at the box itself then it is certainly something you will easily forget. It is a big square box essentially! It is not overly attractive at all. On the front you will see numerous buttons which let you change channel as well as pause live TV. There is a display on the left side of the box which shows the time and what channel you are watching. To the right of the machine is a flap which houses the card reader (for Top Up TV). On the back are the usual sockets with the noticeable absenteeism of a HDMI socket.
The remote control is also very ugly. It is...
