Bought this as a bedroom television. It is a little bulky due to the big speakers and so decided to leave it on a table rather than wall mount, which is possible. It is a HD television the resolution is in between the lower 768 the top of 1082 at 1440 by 900. I only watch freeview on the screen which is not HD quality but it does look so much better than the CRT television it replaced.
The picture is pretty good, but can be a little to bright and colourful, ie not realistic. There are lots of controls to adjust this such as Skin Tone correction, Blue and Green strech, Dynamic Contrast, Luma sharpness & Non-linear colorspace for the more technical. Great pictures from my XBox 360 when set up for HD.
One thing that is annoying is the time it takes to start, it can take around 5+ seconds due to it searching for updates.
On the plus side it allows you to listen to the radio on freeview, so DAB quality, with the screen dimming down and the station showing on the digital display betwenn the speakers.
Pictures are good, but sound is important and this is very good for the size, the rather bulky speakers give good sound and have various options to set including SRS which is simulated surround sound. The sound is more bassy due to the 4 ported speakers.
It has an alarm function so you can wake up to the radio or television. The 7 day planner allows you to plan your viewing and then the set switches on when a programme comes up, or if it is on turns over. The switch on on its own function made me jump one day, thought I had burglars!
For connections the back has only one of everything, ie 1 scart, 1 component, 1 HDMI & 1 PC connection. Okay for me , but if you want to connect a sky box and XBox 360 and a DVD player could get a little awkward.
The set stays on standby only, it cannot be switched off except by taking out the plug. Thought I was missing something but the info says the same.
So, for its size this a great television. Good picture and sound with freeview built in. i definitely recommend it.
This is my first Personal digi-box but collectively my family have quite a few, so I can quite safely say that this is the best box on the market that you can get featuring only a few disadvantages.
