Please don't try and kiss me- i'll only laugh
Review of The Little Book of Abuse - Jasmine Birtles by naomiuk

Advantages: there funny
Disadvantages: some people may find them offensive

...other, and we both know the other likes chocolate, so that’s what they get. Oh, apart from one year when I told him what to buy me ( A cute little penguin Christmas tree decoration from accessorize, which I still have hung in my room!) This year i was greeted with a much smaller package, which consisted of two small books, one of txt shorthand's, and this book of abuse. The front of it shocked me a little. My little brother had got me a bright ...
...the front of it! After I got over the initial shock I noticed what it said underneath the bright yellow finger! It Said “lots of one liners for the really annoying people in your life”. I grinned to myself. My brother knows me too well. This is going to provide me with ammunition for years to come! Some of the one liners aren’t that funny, but some of them are really good. I’ll give you some examples: “I’m not ... Read review

"...and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt"
Review of The Book, the Film, the T-shirt - Matt Beaumont by Soho_Black

Advantages: Very funny in places
Disadvantages: The title takes ages to say

Having thoroughly enjoyed “E”, the debut novel from Matt Beaumont and been quite amused by the horribly obvious cash-in follow-up that was “The E Before Christmas”, I was delighted to see a new novel from the author. As much as anything, I’d been impressed by the way “E” and its companion were completely written in E-Mails, with date headers and everything. That originality, combined with the fact that it was also a pretty funny book, made Matt ...
...with his debut novel “e”, the story is set around life at an advertising agency. This time, though, rather than the setting being in the office, they’re at a film studio in Hounslow, in the middle of shooting an advertisement. In an effort to make it as good as they can and increase the agency’s profile, they’ve hired two of the biggest stars of American TV to play a couple. Unfortunately, in between signing to film the advert and coming to film ... Read review

Ladies and Gents, embrace your inner Pikey.
Review of Oi Pikey! A celebration of Cheap Living - Carrie-Anne Brackstone, Laura Bushell by koshkha

Advantages: So funny you'll wet yourself - buy in some own brand nappies
Disadvantages: You may be forced to come to terms with your own behaviour

Ladies and Gentlemen: Embrace your inner pikey. Be honest now, no cheating. Take a look at the list of questions I have compiled below: 1. Do you have one or more store loyalty cards? 2. Does your pulse race at the sight of a buy-one-get-one free offer? 3. Do you get email alerts every week for what's on special at Aldi? 4. Does the site of your Tesco clubcard vouchers coming through the letterbox fill you with excitement? 5. Have you ever ...
...been to a boot fair, a jumble sale or a TK Maxx or Matalan? 7. Ever bought or sold on eBay? 8. Ever taken home the soaps from a hotel visit? 9. Ever signed up for online surveys? 10. Ever written a first review so you could get double money for the first month? OK, hands up if you match on at least two of those criteria…………..that's what I expected, more hands than I can count. And how many of you are matching most of them? Again, quite a few. ... Read review

Just when you thought it safe, little sod returns
Review of Little Sod's Next Step (How to Be a Little Sod Book 2) - Simon Brett by oldredeyes

Advantages: Very funny, easy to read
Disadvantages: leaves you wanting more

Little Sod’s next step, subtitled - How to be a little Sod, book 2 is author Simon Brett’s second volume in this series of three comical books about the baby from hell. The baby in question is supposedly the author of this regular diary and so everything is recorded from the baby’s point of view. That is not only part of the joke but adds immensely to the appeal and novelty of the idea of the book. The books are written in a diary entry format having ...
...series, How to be a Little Sod (subtitled How to be a Little Sod Book 1) has already been excellently reviewed by Ciao member JoJammy, a review I would definitely recommend reading. This first volume covers the baby’s first year. Book 2 is a natural progression through the next year of the tot’s life. No names are ever mentioned, even for the Baby and the parents are simply called Him and Her. This might seem an odd approach but it works. Other ... Read review
