The World According to Clarkson
Review of The World According to Clarkson - Jeremy Clarkson by
chrisfireman1
Advantages: Short sections, Funny.
Disadvantages: !!!
...and this book is just the same, He speaks his mind, and gives good descriptions, that make you chuckle. Despite what your first impressions are, it is not all about cars.
The book has 81 different sections for which Jeremy gives his opinion, from travel and eating out to sport and famous people. Each section is based on his experiences and feelings, and he tells it like it is. Some things he reveals are: " Too much science is bad for our health" ... ...nights I tend to read the the next one on, before i go to sleep (or you lose track which ones you have read.) although my wife has read a few and i have read a few bits to her, she doesn't find them as funny as I do. (must be male humour!!) I did catch her smile a bit at this one though:
'MEN ARE A LOST CAUSE, AND WE'RE PROUD OF IT'
Being a man, I am unwilling to pull over and ask someone for directions, Because this would imply they are somehow ...

Hilarious - I would know, 'I'm an expert!'
Review of The Timewaster Letters - Robin Cooper by
missstarlette
Advantages: beautifully childish line drawings with handy labels!
Disadvantages: why did he not write more?!
The Timewaster Letters by Robin Cooper (the author Robert Popper's alter ego) are hilarious - they make you feel normal. Robin tackles any problem, complaint or question he might have by writing to whoever it may concern. He invents hilarious characters like the 'expert' table tennis bat Parmaynu, but never seems to be quite as successful as he hopes with his letters. They are laugh-out -loud funny and can be shared with friends, family, colleagues ...

I'm obviously a bright boy!
Review of 211 Things a Bright Boy Can Do - Tom Cutler by
martin0201
Advantages: Humorous, got some good tips
Disadvantages: Some might not find it funny
... The Genre
211 Things a Bright Boy Can Do is a humorous book, so I would certainly say it falls into the Humour category and the publisher obviously agrees as this is what says above the barcode on the back, although some may say it could be a Reference book due to the recipes and suchlike in it. The Author
This is what it says in the front of the book:
"The son of a sex therapist and a sometime Dominican friar, Tom spent his early ... ...at a cloistered university. He began his professional career with a number of false starts as a teacher, set designer, double bass player, speechwriter, printer, toyshop manager, lyricist, wine waiter, City consultant, puppet maker, typographer, magazine editor, bandleader, portrait painter, radio reporter, cartoonist, and ghost writer for Cardinal Hume, before leaving the rat-race to spend more time with his slippers. Tom has written two acclaimed ...

Don't Stop Him Now, He Might Run You Over
Review of Don't Stop Me Now - Jeremy Clarkson by
Andy.mack
Advantages: An interesting, readable account of some top cars
Disadvantages: Not for anyone who dislikes Clarkson
...all sorts of subjects but Don't Stop Me Now is the first of his books, purely about cars, that I have picked up and read. Of course like his other books, The World according to Clarkson 1 & 2 this isn't a book of material written specifically for this purpose. It is once again a collation of articles written for the Sunday times between June 2003 and March 2006.
Having been a fan of Top Gear for a long time I've always found that Clarkson's car ... ...Clarkson's writing so appealing. You don't necessarily have to have any real interest in cars either to enjoy this book as most of the cars featured are cars that the likes of myself can only dream about driving.
There are of course some cars for everyday use mixed in amongst it all with Fiat Panda's and Kia Rio's sitting alongside Lamborghini Gallardo's and Aston Martin DB9's. So while the book does contain a few cars for everyday use it is more ...

Not your typical dynasty...
Review of Blackadder: The Whole Damn Dynasty - Richard Curtis, Ben Elton by
frkurt
Advantages: A great companion to the series
Disadvantages: -
The Blackadder series, begun in the 1980s, was a comedic masterpiece set forth by Rowan Atkinson and his comrades. From start to finish, the first series was a masterstroke of wit, irony and comedic styling that fits both the contemporary and medieval situations perfectly. The combination of slapstick and intellectual humour blended well, and the literary types will not miss the occasional credit of William Shakespeare as a collaborating writer on ... ...comedy Shakespeare would have produced today. The first series was set in the pre-Tudor royal family, projecting that Richard III won at Bosworth Field, and a rather older Richard IV succeeded him, until after many adventures, the entire royal family was done in, and Henry Tudor reworte history thereafter (as the victor often does). The first series starred Brian Blessed and Elspet Gray as the King and Queen, and Robert East as their eldest son, ...
