Foxes and environmentalists in the headlights
Review of The World According to Clarkson - Jeremy Clarkson by
atticusuk
Advantages: Funny in places
Disadvantages: Lacks consistency
...aware of Jeremy Clarkson through the excellent TV programme Top Gear, a show that is not just for petrol heads as it is also one of the funniest programmes on TV as well given some of the stunts and challenges they do. In the show he is the arrogant, opinionated alpha male with a hearty dislike of Europe, foxes, anything environmentally friendly and French cars. Oh and political correctness. In addition to his TV work he also writes a newspaper column ... ...Apart from the toilet reading on offer at my sister house this was the first Clarkson book that I have read and I was interested to see if the humour generated on Top Gear could be translated into the written word. The book itself is made up of a series of short, two or three page, rants or observations on a myriad of topics that stretch from the opening page discussion of an additional public holiday to such varied topics as the joys of the circus, ...

I think I lost my soul!
Review of I Know You Got Soul - Jeremy Clarkson by
debbsfranklin
Advantages: Some fantastic Metaphors as ever with Clarkson
Disadvantages: Much more specialist than his other books
...of machines on Top Gear I thought I couldn't go wrong with this book, I was mistaken...
Although I read the blurb and knew this book was more machine orientated, the witty quotes on the back enticed me to buy it and read more... I shouldn't have. They were in fact the only witty quotes and although I learned a thing or two about ships and dams I was left cold by the clinical reviews of these machines. It was more a little boys wishist of things ...

Clrkson does it again
Review of Don't Stop Me Now - Jeremy Clarkson by
ravster93
Advantages: good for cars, a general laugh, pictures of the cars( only in the hardback)
Disadvantages: no pictures in the paper back, nextime he can write as a book
A great book again
i don't know how he does it but he is amazing. the content of this book is not written specifically for the book but is a compilation of his Sunday times motoring columns. this book is basically a hysterical review of about 60 cars. the review of each car starts off by Jeremy moaning about something or explaining about something which is no concern to us. but somehow he links it all back to the car he is writing about. it is very ... ...to him, and which audience the car is best for. he also compares the car he is reviewing with another similar car and points out the good and bad points. if you wanted to find out about cars then this is a book for you. but even if you do not like cars then this book is also for you . just because this book is so funny. also the hard back contains a picture of each car he reviews to give you an understanding of what he is talking about ...

Review of The Naked Jape: Uncovering the Hidden World of Jokes - Jimmy Carr by
ParkinK02
Advantages: Good read very funny
Disadvantages: none
...enjoy it as it's about the history of comedy, featuring some of the best one liners ever from all the great comics. It's really interesting too, I first just jumped through and read all the funny jokes that are usually in bold on a separate page but then reading it properly it goes through why we use comedy, when the first joke was ever told, all things ,ike that and it's interesting to read why people are funny etc. I got the hardback version on ...

Classic Clarkson: Hilarious
Review of Born to Be Riled - Jeremy Clarkson by
jonwebb5
Advantages: Very funny, huge variety of subject matter, lots of book for your money, informative, passionate
Disadvantages: Doesn't suit being read in one go, topics recycled and stale towards end
Born To Be Riled is good. It's probably not Jeremy Clarkson's best book, but it certainly makes for great reading, either as a bedtime book, where the short columns are ideal for a quick spell, on the commute or on holiday. It will certainly make you laugh, and the variety is great. It's just missing that little something.
The best, and in some cases worst, thing about Born To Be Riled is the fantastic scope of subject matter. Clarkson writes about ... ...connects you to the book. Born To Be Riled is humorous and interesting to read, and is very easy to pick up and get into, perhaps making it best read in short spells, allowing more attention to each individual column.
Born To Be Riled certainly has the wit and charm of Clarkson's other books, and the only thing that really lets it down is perhaps it is so long, that by the end, you've read about everything two or three times. However, it is definitely ...
