Mind-numbing humour- you don't even need a brain!
Advantages: Funny and quite interesting really Disadvantages: A tad unbelievable in places
...would be a review of Dave Gorman's debut novel.
But, like just about everyone who works from home, the comic was just too easily distracted to actually get down to the work for which he'd been handsomely paid.
Unlike the rest of us, though, Gorman's displacement activities went a bit further than cleaning the oven or cataloguing his CD collection. Instead, he embarked on an adventure that took him several times around the globe, running up a five-figure ... ...that first novel written.
As anyone who saw any of his sell-out stage shows knows, Gorman's imagination was sparked by the online diversion of googlewhacking - a usually harmless game in which you try to find combinations of two legitimate words that throw up just one unique webpage from the three billion or so online.
And so he is challenged to meet an unbroken chain of ten people responsible such 'whacks. This book chronicles the result.
While ...

Weasily Does It
Advantages: Alternative to re-reading earlier books, covers some new ground Disadvantages: New stuff too brief and old stuff re-hashed
...probably be familiar with the Dilbert cartoons, a cynical yet true and humorous insight into office (or cubicle) life, starring the engineer with the turned-up tie. The cartoonist, Scott Adams, has written a range of successful spin-off books too, that expound much the same observational comedy through a largely text-based medium, with a sprinkling of cartoon strips.
Having enjoyed 'The Dilbert Principle' and 'The Dilbert Future', enough even to ... ...the introduction neatly summarises the Dilbert Principle "A retarded chimpanzee can drink a case of beer and still perform most management functions". Given those who work in offices, or just generally encounter many 'in-duh-viduals' regularly, will recognise the truth of much Adams says, the fields of social science and rational choice could be revolutionised by the recognition that all people are basically stupid, selfish and horny.

Clrkson does it again
Advantages: good for cars, a general laugh, pictures of the cars( only in the hardback) Disadvantages: no pictures in the paper back, nextime he can write as a book
A great book again
i don't know how he does it but he is amazing. the content of this book is not written specifically for the book but is a compilation of his Sunday times motoring columns. this book is basically a hysterical review of about 60 cars. the review of each car starts off by Jeremy moaning about something or explaining about something which is no concern to us. but somehow he links it all back to the car he is writing about. it is very ... ...to him, and which audience the car is best for. he also compares the car he is reviewing with another similar car and points out the good and bad points. if you wanted to find out about cars then this is a book for you. but even if you do not like cars then this book is also for you . just because this book is so funny. also the hard back contains a picture of each car he reviews to give you an understanding of what he is talking about ...

The Names Have Been Changed To Protect The Guilty
Advantages: Great parody of British celebrity life Disadvantages: A bit predictable
...he is.
'Simon Peters: Diary of a C-list Celeb' is a comedic tale of fame, fortune, family feuds, obsession, desperation, bitterness, burning ambition, celebrity punch-ups and unrequited love.
Despite being riddled with insecurities, Simon knows he has what it takes to get to the middle. The very middle. Getting there is the problem."
WHAT'S IT LIKE?
------------------------
I'm not going to give any of the plot away but in places, it's very ... ...Peters.
NEGATIVES
-------------------
Every diary novel I've read (Adrian Mole, Bridget Jones eg) has been glaringly obvious in places. This is because - and is especially true of Henddy's work - the entries into the diaries are thoughts and questions that the reader either knows the answer to or can predict the answer. The way this diary is written virtually tells you the outcome of some of the plot in advance, which is a shame.

An Entertaining Read
Advantages: Strange and funny. Disadvantages: Maybe too strange for some.
...reading from this particular book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and after that I “ran” to my favourite online bookstore to place an order. David Sedaris (born 1956 in Binghampton, NY) is a talented humorist and for inspiration he often uses his family, his Greek heritage, his homosexuality and the problems that come with moving to another country as he now lives in France with his partner Hugh. However, he is also a radio commentator ... ...I soon will. Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Demin is a collection of autobiographical stories from his past and even though the “characters”, i.e. his family members, are the same throughout, they are separate stories instead of one long one. Growing up in a family with four sisters and only one brother, and being gay at that, is a good basis for many stories that might seem mundane on the surface, but told with the dry sense of humour that David ...
