An Able Fable
Review of The Last Hero - Terry Pratchett by
Squinkle
Advantages: Characters now have form!
Disadvantages: Over a bit too quickly
PLOT
=
On the Discworld, which lies on the backs of four elephants carried through space on a giant space turtle called A’Tuin, there is a high mountain and on the top is Dunmanifestin, where some of the gods of the Discworld take their time to play with the lives of man, and right now they are involved in game that could affect the lives of all on the Discworld.
Cohen is a legend, who remembers high adventure and when you weren’t told off ... ...are going to return what the first hero stole, with a vengeance. Only this could mean the end of the world if no one stops them in time…
When the news of this quest reaches Ankh-Morpork, the Patrician, Lord Vetinari, consults the Wizards of the Unseen University, to ask whether it was possible to send someone to the mountain before Cohen and his horde reach the gods and persuade them to turn back, unfortunately there is no way of using magic to ...

Rincewind is back and as cowardly as ever
Review of Eric (Big Book) - Terry Pratchett by
Desperado19
Advantages: Funny and an interesting continuation of the Rincewind story.
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as the other Discworld books and a little short.
...is a demon in disguise Eric commands him to grant him three wishes; to be ruler of the world, to meet the most beautiful woman in all of history and to be immortal. Unfortunately for Eric, Rincewind is hardly a wizard let alone a Demon. But under threat of being sent to back to some Dungeon Dimension Rincewind tries his best to grant his new "Master's" wishes... Although things don't quite go according to plans.
Like all Pratchett's Discworld books, ... ...(even to the extent that the title of the book actually has the name Faust crossed out above the "new title" of Eric) but also parodies greek epics, mayan culture and even hell itself.
I enjoyed this book, although I don't think it is quite up to the standard of the other Discworld books I have read so far but it does provide an answer to what happened to Rincewind after the events of Sourcery. Even though its not as good as the other Discworld ...

It's Art, It's Discworld.
Review of The Art of Discworld - Terry Pratchett, Paul Kidby by
ConkerEngles
Advantages: Exclusive Content, Excellent Images, Engrosing Read
Disadvantages: Just A Tad Pricey
The Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett spans some 35 novels, short stories, maps, comics, 'diaries' picture books, The Science Of Discworld I, II and III. The series is extremely sucsesful, major fans, like myself, begin to picture it all, even when we wern't reading, so someone had to draw the pictures, cue The Art Of Discworld.
Josh Kirby originally created the cover art for the Discworld Books, but in October of 2001, he passed away in his sleep. ... ...the book. The Art Of Discworld, which was released in 2004, is a collection of Discworld art which goes beyond the covers of the books.
The book itself is rather amazingly compiled, anybody who reads the book 'for the pictures' is satisfied with some gobsmackingly detailed work. For die hard fans, you are greated with Terry's comments on the pictures, and a sense of pride the the images are 'exactly as you imagined the characters to look like'. ...

Read it and weep...FOR JOY
Review of The Timewaster Letters - Robin Cooper by
Hypernation
Advantages: Hilarious, varied, cheaply available, even has drawings!
Disadvantages: Too short - but there's a second volume!
...Cooper (real name Robert Popper, the man behind some of Look Around you with Simon Pegg and scripter of Series 3 of Peep Show with Radio 4's Mitchell and Webb) is a man of considerable spare time.
To help pass the hours he writes letters to member organizations, rotary clubs, airlines and other venerable organs with bizzarre, nonsensical requests, or just to waste their time with crazed inventions he has made and wishes to share with a rightly disinterested ... ...[End of Correspondence] stamp when the organization simply no longer responds to his absurd and increasingly mental missives. Some of the most outstanding letters include a noise reducing machine known as the Imsimil Berati-Lahn (this made me cackle for a good hour), a machine that harvests mustard from wasps (Waspard!) and an offer to supply Beef Scarecrows (later corrected to 'Beel'!) to a Gardening Centre. And wait til you see the drawings that ...

Rising Damp.
Written by Eric Chappell.
You will laugh out loud.
Eric Chappell.
~~~~~~~~
Originally working for the gas board, Eric quit his job and took to writing.
His first play was 'The Banana Box'. This was a moderate success and coincidentally starred Leonard Rossiter, Frances de la Tour and Don Warrington.
Points of interest, in the banana box the landlord was actually called Rooksby. Philip was already a tenant with his own flat.
Eric ... ...get away?"
