Saga Louts = The New Lager Louts
Review of Wrinklies' Wit and Wisdom - Rosemarie Jarski by suesie

Advantages: A laugh a minute
Disadvantages: The loo may be engaged when you need to use it!

I have been putting off reviewing this title because it is so difficult to convey the “flavour” of it and just how entertaining it is but with just five months to Christmas, I felt it was essential to pass on this handy tip for a present for older relatives! My god daughter gave this to me last Christmas and I have to admit that I was slightly offended by the choice when I unpacked it! After all, I might be pushing fifty but I am not in my dotage ...
...not acting my age! However as soon as I started dipping into it, I forgave her because it is the most entertaining and funniest collection of quotations I have ever encountered! Despite the humour, the author, Rosemary Jarski, claims a serious motive in producing this little gem. She claims:- “ Senior citizens have changed and the rest of society has yet to notice. The clichéd image of old age is still common currency in our culture. Media and advertising ... Read review

Truth does not depend on geography.
Review of How To Be A Brit - George Mikes by HungryHungarian

Advantages: An in depth, informative, and most of all hilarious guide to England
Disadvantages: Can cause offence, though none is intended

...during the war, he learned how to adapt, and slowly became British. I should point out that Hungarian humour is a little different from English humour; it's rather like "Gallows humour". It takes a little getting used to, but it's great once you do! If you do read the book(s) you will see what I mean, and I'm going to include some examples from the books in this review as a taster! All excerpts are taken from "How to be a Brit" (André Deutsch 1984) ...

Another great read from viz.
Review of Roger's Profanisaurus Rex: From the Pages of "Viz", the Ultimate Swearing Dictionary - Viz by joe-survey

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Not for the easily offended

I've been a fan of Viz for a few years now and have had great experiences with the magazines, not so great with the videos. I got the book for Christmas and the first thing i noticed was how thick it was. It has 348 pages full of alternative swear words(That's 8000 rude words and phrases!), and is twice as big as the last version. Some silly and some not for the faint hearted. I find a few hilarious and a few just a bit dumb. Overall however it ...
...use that many of them for the fact that A) Most people wouldn't understand them without definitions and B) I simply can't remember them. Some of them you wouldn't want to use such as "Brown Betty", which i would explain but i think Ciao might ban me! You can't sit and read this book cover to cover but it's great for a few spare minutes or some entertainment with friends. The best thing about reading it with mates is that only you and them know what ... Read review

Pointless yet funny, useless yet addictive
Review of The Book of Useless Information - Keith Waterhouse, Richard Littlejohn by eslffkjp123

Advantages: Fantasically useless!
Disadvantages: Uselessly useless!

++++++++++++++++++++++++ WHAT THE BOOK IS ABOUT ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Basically, its a gigantic bullet-pointed list of the most useless facts you will ever encounter. However, saying this, i did actually find myself learning a few of them to bring up in future conversations (yes, i'm sad). If you have a random, silly, or mad sense of humour, (or just an inquisitve nature), this may well be the book for you. I personally fall into the category ...
