A brief history of the game if you have never heard of it (where have you been), includes the player originally playing as Ryu, a martial artist who takes on 10 opponents in a martial arts tournament, one at a time of course. This was the first game which was then moved on and a second was created where you could control any of the 8 characters enrolled in the tournament and once you defeated the 7 main characters, 4 more boss characters were to be beaten. The controls were simple, each character has special moves which you could pull off by using a combination of the punch and kick buttons and sometimes pointing in a general direction.
This version of the game celebrated 15 years and included every single version of street fighter II released including World Warriors - the original sequel where you could play as any of the 8 main characters and pull off any of the 30 moves each character had. Championship Edition - This edition allowed the player to play as one of the 4 boss characters. Turbo - This version was sped up and included upgrades to characters special moves. Super - Included 4 new characters and improved music and graphics and Super Turbo - A mixture of the two with added moves for the boss characters.
Not only could you pick and choose which game to batter you pals at but you can play as any of the 16 characters, Ryu, Ken, Guile, E Honda, Zangief, Dhalsim, Chun Li, Cammy, Fei Long, M Bison, Vega, Sagat, Blanka, T Hawk, Deejay and Balrog.
The graphics are great and due to the control pads supplied by the ps2, its easier to pull off combos and special moves with the multi button and joy stick rather than the d pad on older consoles.
The game brings back so many memories for us 20somethings who queued up at the local arcade to play your mates and regularly inserted 50p on other peoples games so you could challenge complete strangers! The bragging rights were huge in school!!
Anyway enough reminising, this game also includes the original full length 1994 animated film! If the game was not enough, to get a film aswell just tops it off. Although to be honest you should be able to get this reasonably cheap now so the price thats on this site is a little too high but that doesnt deserve a star removal!
