Hypertec's Firestorm external hard drives are high performing units with stylish aluminum outer casings that are lightweight yet strong. Simply plug a unit in and enjoy the luxury of high speed data storage for music, video, documents, spreadsheets and any other data! Firestorm external hard drives are supplied with EMC's award winning Retrospect Express backup and disaster recovery software, providing proven data protection capabilities in an easy-to-use software package. Designed for safety and security, Retrospect Express protects your desktop or notebook against loss due to viruses, user error, damaged hardware, hackers, or even lost or stolen computers. Retrospect's patented Progressive Backup saves time by backing up only new or edited files after the first full backup, whilst automated grooming of older backup data ensures that backups fit within the allotted disk space. Retrospect Express performs accurate restores without bringing back unwanted files and folders that were previously deleted, renamed, or moved, avoiding confusion and potential costly mistakes. Not only does Retrospect Express provide fast backups, but it is also easy for all to use and offers protection in the form of data encryption. In addition to EMC's Retrospect Express, Firestorm units are supplied with HDDErase disk sanitization software, and Truecrypt 256bit AES encryption software to ensure your data is not only safe, but 100% secure. Hypertec Firestorm drives are also available in 2.5" and 3.5" (single or dual) form factors, from 80GB up to 2TB, with a choice of USB2.0 or eSATA connectivity.

Advantages: good storage capacity - lightweight, looks nifty - no drivers required Disadvantages: ---None---
....
No external power source or charging is required and one of the best features apart from the large storage capacity is that fact that it weighs no more than a few grams. It really is hard to tell you are carrying it around.
With 2GB of storage space I have come nowhere near saving enough powerpoint presentations or spreadsheets to my pen drive to fill it but have found it invaluable when giving presentations at third party locations whereby instead of providing any graphics needed I can take them along with me on the drive.
I would only really say buy this if you are a business user or regularly transfer huge files between various locations that don't have internet access....

Advantages: Easy hook-up, Good Transfer Speed, Quiet Disadvantages: Fragile, Slightly Bulky
...The Seagate external harddrive is great for a person who is hungry for gigabytes of storage space. A person who stores their easily lost CDs, DVDs, and copies of there beloved games on a not so easily lost harddrive will appreciate the large 160GB storage space.
It is easy to hook up requiring only that you plug in the power and USB connection. It is also very quiet and never goes above a slightly warm temperature. Its connection speed is fast especially with smaller amounts of data, however it can get bogged down if you are transfering a large amounts of data (think 10s of GBs.)
After buying my second one however, I ran into a problem. The drive started making a high pitched scratchy sound when it was in use after being knocked over (and a half foot fall). I however did not lose any data and after transfering everything off...
