Opinion based on Accent 1.3e (a 1.3i with an "e"), S reg.

The Accent itself is definitely budget sector - although the fit and finish externally often belies that fact.

What is wrong with them ?

The demisting is terrible (and I mean *terrible* to the point of dangerous). In wet weather, when you get into the car damp, you had better keep a chamois leather handy, because the heater / fan cannot cope, and all internal windows will mist to the point of running condensation.

You can`t open the windows to help the airflow to demist because the car is fiendishly designed to pour water all over the occupants with as little as 1/4" opening.

The suspension reminds me of a cart with solid wheels - try going over any speed bumps, and you will soon discover the suspension bottoms out even at 2-3mph. If you really want one of these cars, test drive it over as many bumps as possible ! The rear end also has a tendency to bounce a LOT after coming off a speed hump.

On the three door model, the passenger seat has a "feature" that shoots the seat forward as you lift the lever to let someone into the back seat. This would work fine except it can be difficult for women to move back due to the strengh of the springs, and it doesn`t lock back into it`s original position before it was moved, meaning you have to adjust it again everytime someone uses the back seat.

On the plus side, it`s cheap with a decent warranty - luckily I haven`t needed to test it (car now just over 2 years old).
