I am at the moment looking for a car that it is going to get me from A to B happily.I do not own a Accent at present but this is based on a neighbours car which i was planning to test drive.I asked him all about the Accent and he seemed pretty happy with his apart from a few niggles Fuel Consumption: fuel consumption was quite poor and didnt stand up to rivals. As i was looking for a car mainly to be used in town i was look for top marks. His Accent also done extreemly poor in the NCAP crash test.(2 star). The crash test results didnt bother me in the slightest as i was not planning to crash into anything.
So far so good.I was lucky enough to borrow it for a week while he was on holiday which was a real bonus!.I was happy with how the car peformed on the road as it was quick from the lights for a 1300cc.The one thing i have to moan about with this car is its crap interior which really put me off.I heared that eastern cars are meant to be quality but the cabin felt cheap. The controls felt very fragile which is why i decided not to go ahead to a dealer.
I have split my op into sections just how i used to!.
Peformance.
The engine was nippy and great in town. The 1300cc gets is a real good mixture with Peformance and Economy. The Accent 1.3SI does 0-60mph in 12.5 seconds and a top speed of 105mph.The Accent feels energetic in town but struggles to keep up with fast lane motorway traffic at 85mph.
Economy...
The Accent is not so economical,it has an official combined mpg figure of 40.0mpg which is the same as a Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia. The mpg results are poor against other cars in its class but still not bad.In urban surroundings expect around 35mpg.
Running costs....
The Accent is insurance group 4 so insurance is fairly low as the Accent of my choice is 1300cc.Depreciation is not so good, after 3 years your car wil be worth around £3650.
.Manual Sunroof
.Power Steering .Driver and passenger airbags.
.Central Remote Locking .RDS radio cassette.
.Engine immobilizer .Rear Spoiler.
On the Road....
On the road the Accent Si feels powerful and great at cornering which makes it a real fun car to drive. The Accent is very quiet at speed and relaxing to drive but interior spoils the overall score of the car.
Reliability....
I may have seconds thoughts about the Hyundai Accent as it is the best car i have come across yet.I may be able to increase my budget on a new car so the top of the range Accent may well be in the picture.
