Hyundai's Poor Quality

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Lots of issues

I own an Accent from 1998 and have only 92.000 klms. I always drive "gently". In the long term, I EXPERIENCED ALL THESE PROBLEMS: a) it has poor construction quality, b) it appears often mechanical and electrical malfunctions, c) the fuel consumption usually is bigger than this described by its book, d) it has expensive genuine parts so a very EXPENSIVE SERVICE, e) it burns lots of oils inside its engine (so, I have to carry always Oil with me!!!). ...

hyundai accent 1.5 MVI fantastic!!

Advantages: sporty look, fun to drive, cheap to insure
Disadvantages: electrics can go wrong, underrated!

...fell in love with a hyundai accent 1.5 MVI. its got so many good points! firstly the only way i can describe the drive is fun! a 1.5 MVI dual overhead cam engine in a big small car! its so fun to drive its unbelieveable. change gear at the right times and you'll suprised at the intial accleration from them! not to forget the shorter change gearbox for quicker gear changes and the fun learning to drive round roundabouts, i still havent conquered this ...
...and windscreen wiper controls are opposite as the cars from japan, it took me a little while to get used to this much to the amusement of other drivers while i sprayed my windscreen and wiped them to let people out at junctions! another thing is to make sure that the clutch was changed if you buy a 2001 model, these were called back a few months after production for a clutch replacement due to problems. not all 2001 accents made it back for the replacement ...

02 reg hyundi accent 1.3i

Advantages: low cost, spacious, very reliable, comftable to drive
Disadvantages: interior look cheap and chearful

Hyundia Accent Diesel

Advantages: Cheap and economical, comfertable ride, excellent after sales help.
Disadvantages: None

I have a Hyundai Accent Diesel which is now 4 and a half yrs old and has done 36,000 miles. It developed a problem whenin if I started it from cold then waited one minute and switch the engine off it would not rev any higher than tick over. Richmond Hyundai at Portsmouth diagnosed the problem by showing me that a lever arm attatched to the fuel governer was sticking. Not so much a cheap car, as a well kept secret.

Advantages: Well built, and seriously cheap to buy.
Disadvantages: Interior a bit plasticky, Hard on fuel for a small car.
