...After months of shuffling my feet I finally took the plunge, and thanks in part to the Government?s car Scrappage Scheme, I?m now the proud owner of a spanking new Hyundai i10.
I started seriously looking at alternatives for my Peugeot in July, by which time the oil stains on the drive, a slipping clutch and rusting exhaust were a small indication of what lay ahead at the MOT in October.
Why this car?
In short the amazing price of a brand new car. The alternative was, obviously, to trade Pepe the Peugeot 106 for a second hand car, but I imagine my cherished 15 year old car would have got nothing more than a chuckle from most dealers.
So, full of the promises of £1000 of taxpayers money being given to me (sort of) to buy a safer, potentially more environmentally friendly (and did I say brand new?) car than my three...

...I own an Accent from 1998 and have only 92.000 klms. I always drive "gently". In the long term, I EXPERIENCED ALL THESE PROBLEMS:
a) it has poor construction quality,
b) it appears often mechanical and electrical malfunctions,
c) the fuel consumption usually is bigger than this described by its book,
d) it has expensive genuine parts so a very EXPENSIVE SERVICE,
e) it burns lots of oils inside its engine (so, I have to carry always Oil with me!!!). The cost to fix it is very big.
f) when I drive I hear sounds and "cracks" from the main body and the plastics of the car (what a quality?!?!?!).
g) often, when I catch the door from the outside metal surface, there is static electricity that shocks me.
My opinion is NEGATIVE for HYUNDAI....

Advantages: Reliable, competatively- priced, stylish, modern vehicle! Disadvantages: Loses value quickly. Poorly thought of by non-Hyundai owners!

I wondered what the catch was as it was very cheap for its age!
I decided to check it out anyway! I had never considered a Hyundai as I didn't know anyone who owned one and I had always bought well known brand name cars previously.
On first seeing the car I was amazed how stylish it looked. The bodywork was immaculate; solid, no rust or deteriation and a beautiful shining silver colour. What surprised me most was how modern and eye-catching the styling was!
The interior was equally as impressive. Velour seats, and full electrics including f/f sunroof! Five speed gears and a rev counter finished it off nicely! The stereo was quite basic but the sound was as good as some flashy types. I particularly like...
