A few months ago our faithful Toyota Corolla started to over heat slightly, and we realised that having done 97,000 miles in it, it was time to start thinking of change! We headed out one afternoon to buy a second hand car and trade the old one in. During our travels, we stopped in the Hyundai dealership and to our amazement saw the Hyundai Getz with £1000 off the price, 5 year warranty and 3 years RAC. It was not much dearer than we were being offered for second hand cars. So after thinking it over we bought one!
The Getz is described as a supermini. What amazed us on a test drive is the feeling inside that it is a much bigger car. Our three teenagers fit in the back very comfortably. Outside certainly looks smaller than inside!
The boot space is not massive, but the seats fold 60:40 for extra storage. Under the boot is a hidden storage area for umbrellas, CD's etc. to save cluttering the boot and to hide your valuables.
The 1.1 engine is fine if you are not weighed down by too many passengers or luggage. With two of us in, it zips along at 70mph quite happily on the motorway. It does about 50 mpg which is great if you do lots of miles like we do! There is plenty of leg room both front and back so a quiet, comfortable ride for all. Parking is a dream. Both wing mirrors flip both ways if people knock them, and can be adjusted from within manually.
The shape is somewhat boring as Hyundai are known for reliability not their design. But visibility is good when driving. Central locking from the driver's door. The engine has an immobilizer so will only start with one of the two keys provided. Inside too is pretty dull, but functional. Lots of black plastic! Hyundai are currently the only car manufacturers that offer a 5 year warranty. They are that confident of their product! 3 years RAC cover too! My local dealership also offers a free courtesy car for the 5 year warranty period! All these things add up to cheap, reliable motoring!
Currently the Getz comes in red only at the basic price, then £150 more for black, £330 more for metallic, sky blue, silver or dark grey.
The spare wheel is only a temporary one, which is not limited by mileage but speed, so you need to change it as soon as possible really. But I have heard of expensive cars recently with temporary spares, and most in this price range only have glue stuff to patch up your tire!
I couldn't be more pleased with my Getz, and everyone who goes in it is amazed at the feeling of space.
Advantages: nifty, compact but space to move, cheap Disadvantages: cant think of any
My Hyundai Getz was my second car and it is fantastic for the money that i payed for it. I bought it brand new and from the word go i fell in love with it. Within a week she was named (Mo) and was been driven here there and everywhere. She is small enough to fit in any parking bay... within reason. She is nifty for the size of the engine and handles easily zooming up and down the M1. With the price of petrol going up a hyundai getz is a great way ... ...quite cheap at £120 a year give or take you cant go wrong. Even though the boot is small it holds more than it looks. Many of times have we driven to the airport with four people. four suitcases and four backpacks with room left to shuffle about and not have your face squashed against the window.
The seats fold down and you can get a lot more in, i have got a fridge, freezer and half a bed in mine. how i have no idea but i promise i did.
The getz ...

...up buying a brand new Hyundai Getz as we were so amazed at the price and offers!
The list price was £8000 but they had £1000 off, plus the first 3 services for £99 (instead of £259 each!), five year warranty as standard and three year's RAC! We've even been offered a free car for 5 years while ours is in for servicing! That sounded to us like cheap, hassle free motoring for 5 years.
We are using half the petrol than we used to with our old, larger ... ...tax at £115 a year!
The outside of the car looks smaller than the inside, which is odd!
Inside is certainly ordinary looking, not a pretty cuddly car you would fall in love with. There is a lot of black plastic that shows the dust! 3 coffee cup holders, CD player as standard, air conditioning (amazing at this price!), dual air bags (passenger one can be switched off for baby seat), pockets in both doors for maps etc, one under the steering wheel, ...

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, 5 year warrenty Disadvantages: None
I love my car.
I brought my Getz in 04 for £5995. It has 5 years warrenty and 3 years free service. As a first car for a 17 year old, I was completely surprised with everything this little car has to offer. It is deceptively spacious. I now refer to it as a smaller big car, rather than a big small car. It has automatic windows, Central Locking (although not remote) and a CD player as standard. I have never had any problems with the cars performance. ... ...being made for small things like bulbs and wipers. It passed its last 2 MOT's again with no problems, Altough there was a recall item that needed to be replaced, which was done at the same time to no cost to myself and is now fine.
The car is now over 4 years old and done over 36000 miles. But is still as strong and comfortable to drive as day one. It has lovely clutch reaction being smooth and a pleasure to drive.
Anyone wanting a cheaper reliable ...

Advantages: Cheap as chips, huge inside, warranty Disadvantages: Niggly bits can break easily, not that fast
I love this car.
I bought it at the end of 2003, brand new for 6k. It came with 3 years free servicing, car mats and the obligatory 5 year warranty. I mainly use it for town driving, getting to and from work etc. I have no children so its barely been used in the back although does fit in four fully grown adults comfortably as it is incredibly deceptive with space. I remember my first impression was how big it was inside, it might be that the huge ... ...to making you feel safer as you feel you have a lot around you to protect you. The boot is also comfortable, not huge, but you can certainly get your weeks shopping in there.
I have had no problems with it (touch wood!) other than the slightly niggly things like one of the headlight bulbs went quite quickly, which was easy to do myself. Th cigarette lighter doesnt work, but will correct that when i next take it for its MOT. And i have had to replace ...

Quick review of Hyundai Getz 1.1
I have owned a Getz 1.1GSI since 2004 and although I was initially very satisfied I have now experienced so many problems it's become a real pain... even with the warranty, which I have used a lot! 3 Oil leaks, radiator replaced, blown headlights, ABS problems, clutch replaced and engine stripped and replaced. I am dreading the warranty expiry.
For a small car it's also quite thirsty and does not return the fuel economy you would expect from a small engine. ...

Advantages: Spacious inside the car Disadvantages: No pick up speed, limited boot space
In my opinion the Hyundai Gets 1.3 CDX is only good for learners and unconfident 1st time drivers.
Their is virtually no pick up speed, struggling up minor hills in 2nd gear. Along with the loud noises when it reaches 70mph on the motorway it sounds like it isn't going to make it! Also one problem I found was when there was strong wind because of the square shape of the car it did swerve around and was hard to control.
After 60,000 miles things start to go wrong and I persoanlly had to spend alot on repairs.
The cars fuel consumption is average around May 2009 a full tank cost £38-40 and the car ran for 220 miles.
The inside of the car is very spacious however the boot is pretty small. ...

Advantages: Very informative & Helpful. Not pushy or rushed. Disadvantages: erm?
We went to Days, chelmsfords hyundai garage in March 2004. We did, to be fair, know exactly what we wanted to look at. HyundaiGetz1.1. The sales assistant that we spoke to was very lively and informative. He helped us along very much and allowed us to make a good decision on our final choice of car. We bought the car in April 2004, for a very reasonable price too.
In June 2004 i needed to take the car back as i had had a small accident with my garage and wan't really sure of what action to take.
They were very helpful and the same sales man pointed me in the correct direction for repairs, I was sent to a fantastic repair place in chelmsford industrial Estate call C.A.R.S.
My car was also called in for a service to check the ABS as were all Getz's as i understand. The service was very quick and we were offered a courtesy car ...
