After weeks of scanning car ads I came across an advert for a Hyundai Lantra. It was 3 years old and only £2,500!
I wondered what the catch was as it was very cheap for its age! I decided to check it out anyway! I had never considered a Hyundai as I didn't know anyone who owned one and I had always bought well known brand name cars previously.
On first seeing the car I was amazed how stylish it looked. The bodywork was immaculate; solid, no rust or deteriation and a beautiful shining silver colour. What surprised me most was how modern and eye-catching the styling was!
The interior was equally as impressive. Velour seats, and full electrics including f/f sunroof! Five speed gears and a rev counter finished it off nicely! The stereo was quite basic but the sound was as good as some flashy types. I particularly like the automatic electric arial that popped up on its own when you turn the radio on and equally retracted when switched off. No more worrying about mindless vandals!
The car handled very nicely, holding the road well and keeping up with other road users. It wasn't as nippy as some other cars I have had but it goes when you need it to, if you put your foot down.
When it comes to fuel consumption its a dream come true! It costs about £30 to fill the tank and I usually do over 200 miles a week on just £20.
All in all, I'm not exaggerating when I say, after a year of owning the car I am over the moon with it! It cost me a lot less than I had thought of spending. This meant we had extra money to go away with and thoroughly enjoy our new toy!
Nothing has gone wrong with the vehicle and I would recommend this car to anyone!
Unfortunately there are a couple of downsides!
Firstly, as I stated earlier I bought a nearly new car for a very cheap price! This seems to be common place with Hyundai at the moment! So if you like buying cars and trading or selling them after a year or so, please don't buy one as you would probably lose out financially!
Secondly, there seems to be a stigma attatched to Hyundai. I work with a lot of other people and from the minute I turned up in my new car they did nothing but take the micky out of me! To this day there are still people calling me 'Hong Kong Phooey!'As I have a sense of humour I don't mind, but if you are shy or easily offended, don't buy one of these!
Overall, if you want a sensibly priced car, that is cheap on insurance, comfortable, economical on fuel, and will run forever, buy a Hyundai Lantra!
Don't hang about though as a lot of those who made fun of me have caught on to just how good value they are, and have gone out and bought one! Good things don't last forever.....
