Here is a collection of complaints about IBC JapanIBCJapan Reviews Complaints
IBC Japan looks like such a great company at first. They have a great system which lets you view auction sheets and what cars are available at Japanese Car Auctions.
They will provide translations and they have 24/7 customer service.
That's where the fun and greatness ends. Eventually you'll find out their customer service is useless and that you have been lied to
All of their support is outsourced to the Philippines
including for accounting and shipping!
I should add that these complaints I mentioned about other customers are also the very same experience I've had.
Many customers have complained about not receiving their vehicles, long shipping delays and even being completely lied to about the condition of the vehicles and not to mention shipping damage. In each case the story goes like this, IBC Japan will apologize and ask you to send them a quote or claim for the damage or repairs, then they will run you in circles, apologize more and do absolutely nothing.
We've seen others complain that even their management and supervisors are arrogant and couldn't care less about their customers.
Some customers have reported good experiences, but in all cases where things go wrong, IBC Japan will apologize, make promises but NEVER do anything about it.
Another issue is that they are lying about their "OIS Mileage Inspections". They say a third company inspects the cars to verify mileage by a company called "Odometer Inspections Services", it turns out this company doesn't really exist and is actually just IBC Japan themselves. When confronted IBC Japan had no response except to refuse to provide their contact information.
And finally......IBC Japan lies about shipping and tries to jack up the price of shipping by 3x.
Here is an example, for RO/RO car carrier shipping the price was 87,000 Yen initially (about 870USD) but now they are telling (Canadians at least) that this type of shipping is not available but promise to do their best to get it. They now say the total price of shipping is $3015 USD for a single car and that they will only do a full container! They cleverly say it is just $2195 USD on top of the already paid for price but it took several e-mails to get them to admit the true cost for shipping.
One thing about that, is that any exporter can easily ship shared container for $1300-$1500 USD and even a full container is $2100 or less....and we're sure IBC Japan gets a discount and can ship for even lower.
Now their scam is to charge $1500 instead of $870 for RO/RO shipping and to lessen the blow they just charge another $1515 on top for container shipping. Now can you see what their game really is?
To make things worse another Canadian caught IBC lying about this RO/RO shipping and others know because of different Japanese Car Exporters that RO/RO shipping is easily available. However, when confronted IBC Japan played dumb, apologized and said they will do their best but this is out of their control......
A customer clearly explained to IBC the date, time and departure and the phone numbers to call to book RO/RO shipping and IBC Japan still gave him the run around even though they were caught lying about shipping.
As you can see IBC Japan is a very dishonest company and even if you show them they are caught red handed they don't care, and even managers and their Japanese staff will not help you and eventually stop answering your e-mails.
The Philippines outsourced staff will usually keep replying but with obvious standardized replies but don't believe their promises or apologies because no matter what your problem or concern is, nothing will actually happen.
The only people praising them are large companies who buy dozens of cars a month or even more.....in fact we saw an e-mail from an "IBC Japan account manager" telling off a Canadian because they said they only want to deal with large volumes.
In short IBC Japan is horrible, dishonest and you should stay away from them. There are many better, more honest and reliable and affordable exporters in Japan so why on earth would you choose them?
