IBM 2-Way processor option - IBM POWER4+ 1.5 GHz processor board

Advantages: Very hot - great if you are in a cold climate
Disadvantages: Overheats

...Pros: Nice big screen, fast processor. When you pump it up to 1GB RAM it works quite well You can put your coffee cup next to the cooling fan outlet and keep your coffee warm for hours. Great in cold climates. It's got the IBM logo on the outside. Now that I know that IBM stands for "Its a Broken Machine" I'm no longer as thrilled. I am retiring the machine as a LAMP server and have moved my Windows apps to my Acer replacement laptop. Cons: The hard drive died within a week of using it. It was replaced under warranty, but they installed the wrong OS. When the correct OS was installed, it came with free spyware. 18 months later this laptop still overheats terribly, and the IBM workshop took 4 weeks to "fix" it and there is no improvement whatsoever. It's a terrible design flaw, and totally overpriced. I am using a replacement laptop... Read review

...I wish Santa would have left that little toy under the tree but no luck, maybe next year. IBM as made a name for itself in the laptop insdustry for leading the pack. Their machines are all work, no fun though, which as made them a favorite for business users. The Thinkpads T30s are IBM Thin-and-light series which is supposed to be a compromise between power and portability. Well in fact the only limit to the power you can have in this little thing is how deep your wallet is. the prices range from a 1500 L to 3500 L. the difference is mainly the hard drive, the screen definition either 1400x1050 or 1024x768 (all models are 14.1" by the way) and the options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CD/DVD writer combo, ibm security chip) all in all in a neat little package of 2.5 Kg. the top models are powered by an ATI Radeon 7500 with 16 Mb of dedicated... Operating System provided by IBM as well ( part number 90P0221) Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Standard Edition. Packaging and manuals: Server is very well packaged,rack conversion comes with explanation for conversion, but the whole conversion is not intuitive at all.Picture provided in installation instructions not very helpful.
