Advantages: Large and fast removable storage. Disadvantages: Can get a bit warm during operation.
...to unplug the drive each time I simply wanted to turn it off, just because there wasn't a switch on the back!
"Whisper quiet operation" - it is pretty quiet and certainly a lot quieter than the average PC, so you never really notice noise from it.
A stand is included so you can mount the drive on its side to take up less space.
I don't know if this is common for external drives, but this drive can be set to power down after a period of inactivity like an internal harddisk. (The default is 60 mins, but can be changed).

...This is a great drive, that I bought about a year ago when I built my PC. I was looking for a good all round IDE harddisk - fast, reliable, and well priced. After reading various reviews, I discovered the best harddisk in its class. Was it a Maxtor? WD? Seagate? No - it was made by IBM.

Advantages: good build quality - rarely break down - It's an IBM! Disadvantages: support website can sometimes be awkward to navigate.
...I must have built / overseen the build on about 100 of these over the last five years starting with the X220 up to this current 226 and I have had very little to complain about. You can also buy a rack conversion kit in order to rack mount it

I have often installed it (with the addition of a 6i RAID controller to give a RAID5 config) with MS SBS2003 standard as the main server for a small business of up to 25 users. It handles file & print and exchange without any real fuss although I would recommend plenty of RAM if you are going to do this as Exchange can be quite memory hungry
The on-board HostRaid card comes disabled so you have to go in and set...
