Advantages: reliable, very upgradable, fast and very over-clockable. Disadvantages: no HT support, only USB 1.1, did anybody get built in LAN?
...After upgrading from a trusty P3-500 to an AMD Athlon 1.4GHz I found pressing the reset button every few minutes to be a real pain so I went back to Intel. I wanted a reliable system that was fast, clockable and futureproof. It also had to be rock solid and stable as well. Looking around everyone was saying good things about the TH7-II so I decided to buy one and give it a go.
This board didn't come cheap. When you add Rambus RIMMS and a P4 processor in as well it was pretty expensive. But I was so annoyed with how unreliable my previous system was I bought it anyway and sold the Athlon and VIA based motherboard to a mate for £50.
This board is Abit's i850 chipset solution featuring 5 PCI slots, 1 AGP, 4 slots for Rambus rimms and 2 Highpoint HPT370 IDE channels in addition to the 2 standard IDE channels. The Highpoint has its own...

While not the cheapest, or even the highest spec machine that I had to choose from, I was finally convinced by the fact that it was an IBM machine. IBM are a massive company, and working in the computer industry I know the vast amounts of money that they spend on research and development. This has been money well spent when it comes to the Aptiva series. In my workplace I have had three new machines since I bought the Aptiva for home use. The Aptiva has outshone all three in terms of reliability. Because the machine is now four years old I have had to make a few small upgrades. I have added more memory and a bigger hard drive. I also upgraded the processor recently...

Advantages: Ready to use, easy to setup. Disadvantages: Not enough memory
...IBM provide a 30day up and running facility to get you started.
Very useful as the modem was not configured from factory, for use in UK.
However, as an experienced user of PCs I found most of the problems started after this period.
My Hard Drive has been re-formatted (taking about 30 minutes) twice, but has been operating efficiently for abut 6 months.
Hardware support is excellent, covered by a 12 month warranty.
Manuals are basic, but a comprehensive windows-based help manual is available. Lifetime IBM on line support for as long you own the PC....

I bought this extender to go with my Canon EF 70-200 f4.0L IS lens. It extends the range to 280mm and increases the maximum aperture to 5.6. This means that autofocus on a 20D, 30D, 40D or 5D body will still function... more

The Pure Legato 2 is quite simply a revolation in innovation and functionality. Looking at it initially, it's like a wolf in sheeps clothing. It's size is small, yet it's output and definition to sound is of a magnitude which proves it's not the size of... more
