Advantages: Great characters and cleverly structured Disadvantages: The domestic violence bit sticks out like a sore thumb
'm glad I read Gateway, in spite of the odd niggle. The partying prospectors are a lot of fun, particularly their endearing ignorance in the face of the alien civilisation they're discovering. The twin strands of exploration and therapy are both brought to a satisfying conclusion, and I'm surprised the book has never been filmed - the balance between the vastness of space and the mundanity of paying your rent is note-perfect.
My edition is quite a recent one. You've probably seen the series on science-fiction bookshelves, stiff covers, rounded corners to the pages and the back cover blurb aligned horizontally. While it's tempting (and plausible) to dismiss the striking design as a gimmick to charge premium rates (around £7.99 from all good bookshops and quite a bit cheaper online) for novels that are over forty years old, they're incredibly ...
Advantages: user friendly, quick input of all items through use of the amazon database, free in an older version Disadvantages: up-to-date version relatively expensive
, the virtual shelf. This is a great view if you only remember the cover of a medium as it shows you all the covers, always four in a row.
This list also can be sorted by the way; by authors, titles, publishers, by date added or status - or even by translators. Of course there is also a search function integrated which allows you to find an item even quicker.
Now, once you've spent quite a bit of time with filling your personal catalogue you - of course - want to save it. This is done by a click of the disk in the menu bar; you just have to choose a name for your file. The next time you start MediaMan it is automatically loaded. The file is not too big either, I have got about 530 items in my catalogue and the file has a size of approx. 7 MB.
You also have the possibility of exporting you collection to RTF or CSV (Microsoft Excel) files, which ...

Advantages: TV till you drop and good internet. Disadvantages: Poor customer services, poor prices,
Virgin have gone down in my expectations and i am currently thinking of leaving them.
When i first joined virgin media it was called telewest, i signed up to a large tv package and the internet at a cost of 40 pounds per month.
This worked fine untill virgin media took over, Although they did bring better and more chanels to the table the prices went up and the customer service went down.
When virgin took over they rang me to say i would be better off if i got the whole package which included xl tv, 20gb broadband and a phone line with free weekend calls as it would take my bill down to 35 pound a month, i also pay for disney cinemagic aswell so it would basically be taking 5 pound off my bill which i thought was fair enough.
Since then the bill has went up and up and up!
I still have the same package to which i had 4 years ...

Manufacturer's product description
Informix - Enterprise Gateway Manager is a member of the Informix - Enterprise Gateway family, a complete set of standards-based gateways that includes Informix - Enterprise Gateway with DRDA and Informix - Enterprise Gateway for EDA/SQL. Informix - Enterprise Gateway Manager allows Informix database application developers and users to access information on Oracle, Sybase, and other non-Informix databases as easily and transparently as if they were accessing an Informix database server. In combination with the industry-leading parallel capabilities of Informix Dynamic Server, Informix - Enterprise Gateway products provide high-performance solutions for joining data across heterogeneous data sources such as Oracle, Sybase, DB2, and others. Informix - Enterprise Gateway Manager is designed for Informix customers who also need access to non-Informix databases such as Oracle and Sybase. At the core of the product is an SQL-based gateway that allows a customer's Informix tools, applications, and databases to interoperate transparently with non-Informix databases. Enterprise Gateway Manager helps customers migrate from or coexist in a heterogeneous environment. Based on the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) specification from Microsoft, Enterprise Gateway Manager provides access to non-Informix data sources through ODBC drivers that can be loaded dynamically. Specific ODBC drivers are available from Informix for both Oracle and Sybase. In addition, because of Enterprise Gateway Manager's underlying open architecture, customers and third-party vendors can provide ODBC drivers based on the ODBC specification. When combined with these custom drivers, Enterprise Gateway Manager provides access to other non-Informix data sources in addition to Oracle and Sybase.
