IBM ThinkPad R40e

Advantages: IBM brand, simple recovery process, decent price
Disadvantages: Low specifications, battery life is questionable

...The IBM ThinkPad R40e delivers an above-average performance. I am sure, back in the day, that the specification we have here would have been top-of-the-range. Unfortunately due to today's steps in technology it makes this model quite out-of-date. However, this doesn't mean that the laptop is not good or of no use. Far from it in fact. IBM, which stands for International Business Machines, is a world-wide recognised brand. Their name on any product makes a bold statement of build, quality and design. Forgiving the out-of-date specifications it is easy to see why in businesses this laptop is popular. This laptop does not have a touchpad for controlling the curser. Advantages: small, light, cheap for size
Disadvantages: slow and low end

...I'll summarise the main features here and might probably add a lot of detail later: The main feature of this laptop is size, it one of the lightest laptops around and is only 2.7kg. It also has a integrated DVD roms, unlike the docking ones that try to cut size and weight by making external drives. I consider this important cause you can go out and use it as a DVD player. Another advantage with this laptop is that you get a full keyboard, which makes it easier to type without mistkes. It is decent from running normal apps such as office. That said, it could be said that this pc is more or less powerless. with only 128 megabites of ram and a celeron processor, this comp can't handle much. Advantages: Small size, Lights, Looks smart!

...Watching the ICT market depresses me. Only a couple of short years ago I invested in the biggest desktop hard disk drive I could ever find - A roomy 120GB Seagate. Now we are up to 750GB, yet these cost only half of what I paid for my drive. The same is the story with the ThinkPad 240 - I remember when these were £1,699 brand new. Luckily I never bought one new, but I did receive one second hand a few months ago.
