IBM DVD-RAM drive

Disadvantages: Only 2 usb ports

...What a top class notebook for the price. Comes ready to use, straight out of the box, mine came with plenty of software to get me started on. The pentium processor and half a gig of ram, complete many tasks with ease. A nice matte 15" tft monitor, seems to resist scratches because of its non-shiny surface. It's trackpoint mouse takes a bit of time to get used too, but once you have cracked it, it is much better than the touchpads on most laptops. You have the ability to keep the whole of your hand still, and just use the tip of your finger to control the ball, and your thumb to click on the right and left mouse buttons, stopping your wrist from aching from sliding your hand across a pad. Fast dvd drive, able to watch films flawlessly. Decent soundcard considering it is in a laptop. Easily upgradeable RAM modules, and hard drive... Read review

...I wish Santa would have left that little toy under the tree but no luck, maybe next year. IBM as made a name for itself in the laptop insdustry for leading the pack. Their machines are all work, no fun though, which as made them a favorite for business users. The Thinkpads T30s are IBM Thin-and-light series which is supposed to be a compromise between power and portability. Well in fact the only limit to the power you can have in this little thing is how deep your wallet is. the prices range from a 1500 L to 3500 L. the difference is mainly the hard drive, the screen definition either 1400x1050 or 1024x768 (all models are 14.1" by the way) and the options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, CD/DVD writer combo, ibm security chip) all in all in a neat little package of 2.5 Kg. the top models are powered by an ATI Radeon 7500 with 16 Mb of dedicated... Advantages: Silence, Sturdiness

...The IBM T20 Thinkpad is the perfect choice for the non-gaming experience. I should say that you will find everything you need in this machine, unless you are in to firewire devices. As an example I should mention the Ultrabay to which you can even get a DVD-RAM drive (which by now is the newest technology). However. Never laptops are fitted with USB2 (faster version of USB) and some of them Pentium-M processors (longer battery life). The T20 runs perfectly with Windows XP, but you will have to install all drivers from IBM - especially the power management drivers, since you elseway will not be sure to return properly from stand-by mode. The rather old 440-chipset is running at it's best, and the speedstep is fully functional (that is: The PC uses the exact amount of CPU-power needed).
