Totally, utterly and completely free UPDATE 22/05/2001

Advantages Completely free, no subscription fees, no dial-up charges during designated hours
Disadvantages None so far for me, but people have found it difficult to get through at times

** UPDATE** Unfortunately, IC24 have stopped their 0800 access as they could not keep it running indefinitely. However, they are hoping to introduce a monthly subscription 24/7 service in the near future. Genuinely free ISP but has its faults 31/01/2001

Advantages Free internet access (0800 number), no subscription charge, can sit quite happily alongside any other existing ISP; pretty quick and easy to set-up
Disadvantages Ay, there's the rub: can take a while to connect, disconnects after an hour of use, randomly disconnects sometimes in busy periods, offer may end soon? Also, free internet equals far too long using it!

If you're looking for a cheap Internet Service Provider (ISP) and you think you will be able to bear all the little idiosyncracies of IC24 then you can't go far wrong here. Basically it's quite a new ISP company and is only just beginning to start advertising itself fully - you may have noticed a few IC24 ads on the TV recently. As a result of its relative infancy, they're currently running an offer whereby you get free internet calls every night from 8pm until Midnight. No longer free but still worth checking out 18/11/2001

We have two computer in our house, one is quite old and as a very slow modem so on that computer we had installed on it IC 24. It was a free ISP which gave free access to the internet. So you had to download a dial up connection which gave you a 0800 phone number and then you could enjoy free internet access. However, due to the demand and surge in members IC 24 is no longer able to give free access. Having tried various free companies which gave free internet access, we did find IC 24 to be the best. Yes, at times it was slow to connect up and you could get disconnected of very easily. But ... more

IC24 is the ISP service of Trnity Mirror - the company behind the Mirror and people newspapers and, until recently, Live TV as well. IC24 operates as both a web-portal and an ISP, and also offers dial-up access. The software (if you need it) or just the dial-up settings can be downloaded from the IC24 website, or, alternatively, users can pick up a CD from their local Esso garage or get one by requesting it online. Disadvantages Appalling portal, poor service, impossible to sign up for free connection

IC24 - supposed to be free after eight of an evening ain't it? - well, let me tell you - I signed up six months ago after an awaful lot of hassle with a previous provider (sorry, you'll have to guess but they always were Big Trouble, think about it, not too hard, because I want you to read this). It took me quite some time to get IC24 loaded up the first time and there were a lot of problems with it - I got the normal ones like the software trying to take over all my settings and I spent about an hour getting things properly sorted out.
