...The Nokia N800 internet tablet landed on my desk today, and having previously tested the N770 I was a little excited to see what had changed and/or improved. More importantly, would I now find a use for the device, when last time around I was left mystified as to how useful it would be for my day-to-day use. Out of the box the design has improved a great deal. Gone are the slab-like looks of the previous incarnation and you can say hello to some smooth curves, a nice contoured back and a pleasant silver finish to the front. The buttons are a bit odd, sort of set off-centre, and a little non-tactile, but you won't find this a problem, as they are not used too much. The touch screen is the same as before, a glossy finish, very high resolution (800x400) and everything is really colourful, bright and pin-sharp (more on this later). Around... Read review

When it lights up green, the drive is powered on (there's a power swith on the back of the unit, along with all the other connections), and an orange/red color indicates that it is working on a CD/DVD. Connection options are Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (also works with USB 1.1) and i.LINK (FireWire/IEEE1394) - I've used USB (very easy plus & play installation) and certainly seems fast enough for me ! DVD+R burning speed is a (claimed - I've never actualy burned a full disk) 16X max, burning a full DVD in approximately 6 minutes - although it should be noted that if you're working with movie footage, the "compilation" of the files can take considerably longer than the actually DVD...
