I started watching 60 minute make over on my very rare days off, for those who haven't seen the programme and team and a designer go in a make over up to 4 rooms in a house depending on the size for the owners. The makeover doesn't cost the home owners any thing apart from tears if they don't like it! And for one of them its meant to be a surprise..
The programme is presented by Claire Sweeney the girl out of brookside and who later went onto Broadway! Its claires job to keep an eye on the stop watch and shout at every one when the time is up. The only thing I can really say about Claire is some times she is over dressed and doesn't get her hands dirty….
To be honest I didn't believe they did it in 60 mins but they do, however I then watched this morning and Claire Sweeney let slip a few secrets that us viewers didn't know about. A removal team go in before the cameras start rolling and take out all the furniture and carpets ect, the other secret is that tea breaks are an hour long!! And when they don't get it all finished what happens? Well some seem to think they leave it to the home owners to finish.. This isn't the case.
I was watching the other day and the programme was making over a house in Hemel Hempstead, a girl wanted to surprise her partner on the moving day! While he was cleaning the old house she and the 60 minute makeover team were doing up their new home. The designer of the day was john amabile ( one of my favs) they were doing so well apart from one area the fire place! They put up some suade wall paper, but as you can imagine it was a night mare to hang…
Well to cut a long story short they didn't finish it in time and a small section on one side of the fireplace was not wall papered. Claire called time on the makeover and the camera sis a sweep of the room at this point. After they went and met the women's partner who didn't look shocked or surprised at all! ( I think he knew all a long) the camera did a before and after sweep of the room! And your never guess the section had paper on the wall.. Great for them but isn't that cheating??? .

John Amabile John is one of my favourite designers on the show! His ideas are so down to earth that every one likes them! He isn't like some of the others they use, who do these wild and outrageous Designs. And when in front of the camera he is so funny and natural!
I really like this show and get some really good ideas from it for a few of my rooms much to my partners dislike! ( only because he has to do most of it) But I do have to say that some items like furniture are really expensive, but then you go for a similar but cheaper option don't you!!

Good review Ive seen the show a couple of times also my dad and brother have been in the show (due to be shown in september ) 60min makeover Special only one where they fit a whole kitchen in 1hr ....Good review

I love to watch this if I get the chance. The cock-ups in programmes like this are the best bits though lol :0)
