ITV - 60 Minute Makeover

This programme has been aired for quite a long time, 2004 to be exact. I actually have seen it with Its former TV host Claire Sweeney & Terri Dwyer. Now it only appear to be introduced by a voice over presenter and guest interior designer. The idea of the programme is to give a house makeover in just 60 minutes. They only have a whole hour to redesign and work on it. Quite cheeky and impossible to do but that's how the programme works.

MAKEOVER
To be part of the programme, Someone like family or friends have to be nominated by anyone they knew. The person who make the nomination will have to decide and give introduction on what they prefer. Then the householders are also allowed to pop stickers on some items they want to keep and the rest is up to the interior designer. The owner itself don't have any say at all. A high risk that they are all willing to take. The house is then invaded by 20 or more decorators, carpenters, electricians and cleaners. Those people are about to help out in different ways to cope up with the assignment of redesigning the house. Then finally, the house is presented to the owner, luckily in most cases they seem to be pleased. But I remember watching it one time when the house owner didn't like the decor and it was pretty obvious in his face reaction, he was fuming and not very happy at all. I wonder what happen next off cam. Well, that's the risk of it, really...

DOWNSIDE
I'm still wondering how honest the homeowner reacts, because they seem to be delighted most of the time even if the result doesn't seem to be good or perfect. As I also imagine how they will react to the quality of work when we can't hide the fact that the quality is at stake since it's done in a very rush manner. There's probably something need to be fix for sure.

OPINION
It's quite a fascinating show especially when the outcome turns to be really good with excellent decoration, brand new designs and ideas. The programme is easy to watch and understand, quite enjoying when your passing the time. The designs are often very different, everyone seem to put a lot of effort and work together to finish the house in a short period of time but I have to say that it's fun to watch them working as they all go along with the time they have. It's one of those series that I consider to be entertaining but I wouldn't mind if I missed a viewing. Overall, it's an exciting but chaotic programme with great ideas and a very high risk to take.
