WWTBAM? Me!
Advantages: Fantastic format, great prizes, wide variety of questions. Disadvantages: None
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is a game show which is hosted by Christ Tarrant and is shown on ITV1 at miscellaneous times throughout the year. The format of the game show is quite simple. Contestants have to answer 10 questions to allow them to climb the cash ladder and win £1,000,000. There are 10 contestants who take part in the 'Fastest Finger' round in which they have four items/words etc which have to be placed in to a specific order (could ... ...over to the 'Hot Seat' and get to sit opposite Chris Tarrant and answer the questions. Once in the 'Hot Seat' the contestant will be introduced by Chris and they will have a little bit of a banter and a chat and we will learn a little about the contestant, then the questions will begin. The questions are all general knowledge and there is a very wide variety and I guess the aim of the show is to ensure that each question gets progressively harder ...

If it's up there I'll give you the money myself!
Advantages: Fantastic format, lots of innuendo, great presenter (Les Dennis). Disadvantages: None
...(of course it was just ITV back then!) and repeats are still available now at quiet times or on Challenge TV or similar channels. There was also a recent remake which was being hosted by Vernon Kay. The concept of the game show is that there are two families who are competing against each other to guess the answers to surveys which have been answered by 100 members of the public. There will be a few answers on the board (from 3-9 normally) and as ... ...how many people had selected that particular answer. There are 2 main rounds, the 3rd round was a double points round and this could quite often decide who won the main game and went on to the final round. The final round would have the winning family nominate two members who will then have to speed answer 5 surveys. The first family member gets 15 seconds whilst the second family member has to put on headphones in a special booth to stop them hearing ...

Never mind the X Factor
Advantages: See text. Disadvantages: See text.
...do a general review on X Factor. I would however, just like to point out that I am aware that this is not quite in the right category! The X Factor is a glorified talent show, whereby wannabe singers compete in various different heats around the country. These are usually held in around 4/5 major cities, and the best are then sent through to 'boot camp'. These are usuually groups of around 20 people, split in to ages of under 25's; over 25's; groups, ... ...geoup has a mentor that is usually a famous musical person - at present, they are Louis Walsh; Danni Minogue; Cheryl Cole (who at present has changed for Sharon Osburne who could return within the next series or 2), and Simon Cowell. The 20 plus people in each group are then narrowed down to about 6 people, who then make it in to the live shows. It is then the public who decide week by week who stays, but those two people with the lowest public votes ...

BRING BACK ROY WALKER
Advantages: A good concept, and fun to play along with Disadvantages: Not the same as it used to be
...It is still shown on ITV today.
IDEA OF THE ORIGINAL GAME
Two people attempt to solve Catchphrases (picture puzzles which reveal a phrase, saying, title etc) to win money.
Before each round one person stops the flashing light and that determines how much money each one in this round is worth. Then, a puzzle comes on screen which, after the bell but not before, it's first on the buzzers. If they're right they win the money.
The person with the ... ...Roy Walker was SACKED by ITV as they believed the show needed a facelift!!!!! They had NO IDEA!!! I admit by this stage I was taking Catchprase for granted and I wasn't watching it every week but when i turned on the Big Breakfast to see Roy Walker reduced to tears over this, i felt physically upset and angry!! The graphics have been updated and the ready money round has been replaced by Cash Countdown. The show is now dull and repetitive with a ...

Der-Dah ... Der-Dah ... Der-Dah De-De-Der-Dah ...
Advantages: Everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame! Disadvantages: Getting there (although you get travel allowance)
I think it was back in 1995 that I went to the David Lloyd Club in Eastbourne for one of their opening days at Easter time. As I was wondering around inspecting the facilities I knew I would never be able to afford to visit again, I saw a poster in the café area on one of the central posts with a picture of someone I thought I recognised. Yes, it was 'Our Cilla'. It read something like:
'Would you like a Blind Date? Visit the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne ... ...took this in, erratically wrote down the date, time and venue on a scrap of paper I knew I would lose, in handwriting I knew I wouldn't be able to read, but all the same, decided to give it a go.
-------- STAGE ONE --------
Wednesday 12 April 1995 - After work on that fateful day, I turned up to the audition in a big room at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Knowing not what would be in store for me, I filled in a form to state who I was, what I was, ...
