Heartbeat is a weekly program shown every Sunday at 8pm on ITV. (Channel 3) This last week gone was unfortunately the last in the series but I'm sure the next series will be out soon and I hope just as good. Heartbeat is one of the longest showing TV programs that I've known, it has been around for years and years but has only recently grabbed the attention of the millions of people in our country. The drama was aimed at older people, a police drama set in the small village of Aidensfield out in the countryside but recently I've realised the program has become more of an interest to younger people like myself. Instead of talking about Eastenders and Brookie, many people have turned to Heartbeat! Just how un-real can it get!
The program which is a 60's drama set in Aidensfield, a lovely set but unfortunately the village Aidensfield does not exist in real life! Goathland on the North York Moors is a real place and is very near the set. A lot of people visit just to see the set and what it's really like! The program also has a really catchy 60's tune to go with the 60's theme.
As I mentioned before the series has just ended, that was the tenth ever series and the eleventh is soon on its way. Many of the characters in the program have starred in it for years, the policeman, the villagers, the business men and the animals! Many famous names have come out of the show such as Nick Berry who left quite a while ago now unfortunately, there is also Jason Durr who plays a lead role as Mike Bradley a police officer. There is the never forgetting nurse Maggie Bolten who quit and Bill Maynard who also has left the program now, he was the never forgetting Greengrass. The show was supposedly start to finish and get forgotton but has yet lived on and sure will go on for a couple of years at least.
Only recently has the style of the program changed though. This last series gone has really been different, more like the soaps on TV with much more gripping stories. The last show in the series shown last night was when the famous PC Mike Bradleys wife left him for another man, it was a well thought out story which gripped my attention and no doubt many other peoples as well. There are now rumours going round that due to this storyline the police officer will now also leave the program.
But back into the reality of TV and showbiz, there is an end to all programs and after many many years of the program maybe it will soon be time that it came to an end. I mentioned before that it shall go on hopefully for at least a couple more years but sometimes things look pretty rough for the program especially at the moment, when will the end come!? I for one will definitely miss the program as well as many others I'm sure when it does go.
Not all episodes are as good as I've said, sometimes you have bad episodes and sometimes really good ones though I really do think that the program is well worth the watch! When the next series comes out give it a try, see what happens to poor broken hearted PC Bradley, will he survive the trauma or will he leave the program all together!? Thanks for reading~Em~

I have to say I find Heartbeat very, very boring nowadays......I used to like it years ago with Nick Berry and Niamh Cusack, but ever since they left it just hasn't been exciting. Why has Ciao got a picture of Nick to represent the show? A little out of date isn't it? Anyway, great op, with lots of info, even if I don't share your views........Jonny.
