There are many cheap scart leads and many expensive scart leads. The cheapest may not be fully wired and hence not pass on all signals such as AV switching and screen mode through to the TV, and the most expensive may not appear to give value for money.
The Ixos XFT02 is their entry level scart lead costing between £13-£20 depending where you look. The scart is fully wired, is constructed with oxygen free copper conductors with gold plated connectors, and is well shielded against emf interference. The scart does exactly what it is meant too without being too expensive for non-enthusiasts. These aren't the cheapest of scarts, but are at the low end of quality leads which are designed for signal performance rather than price.
The only drawback is that the connector head is quite bulky with the side-exiting lead, so this may foul some AV equipment depending upon connector positions.
What else can you say about a scart lead?
