Just got back from sunny Dorset - review to follow! - hope everyone is well and getting back into the swing of things. BTW, Tesco in Poole had selection boxes on display ready for Christmas! How mad is that!!

Sometimes I wish I was a millionaire (I know, don't we all!) but recently, my desire has been of a more altruistic nature. I would love to be a millionaire in order to be able to give a copy of this book to every overweight person I have ever met. I don't doubt that some of them would be offended and would want to hurl sharp objects at my head. However, this book is so fantastic, it would be worth the risk!
Let me rewind briefly to when I was in primary school. I would be about ten (certainly no older than eleven) and I went to play at a friend's house. Whilst there, we took it in turns to stand on her weighing scales. I weighed nine stone! She told me her scales were faulty but first thing the next morning, announced my weight to our entire class and told me she'd lied, they weren't faulty at all! The only good thing about my recollection of this event is that I don't remember how I felt at the time. No doubt I was embarrassed but thankfully I don't remember
that!
Fast forward to the present day; one husband, two daughters and seventeen years later. I'm still overweight! I come from a family of overweight people (sorry mum!) but will be forever thankful that I have finally found the answer.
I guess in a way I owe a small debt of thanks to The Sun who serialised this book in January 2005. If I hadn't read what this book was about before seeing it in the shops, I don't think my husband would have let me 'waste' £9.99 on 'another diet book'.
I bought my copy of this book at the full RRP of £9.99 in WHSmiths. A fortnight after doing so, it was on offer in our local Asda for £5.49. It's been on offer ever since but I lost 6lb in that first fortnight. When I think about the money I spent each week going to Slimming World after my first daughter was born, £4.50 was a small price to pay! I am lighter now after four months with Paul McKenna than I was after a year with Slimming World. Don't get me wrong, all these different diets can work, but only if you stick to them for the rest of your life! I for one, don't intend to spend the rest of my life cooking one meal for me and another for him!
The wonderful thing about this system is that you can eat exactly the same as the rest of your family. (I had an Indian takeaway, chip-shop chips and a KFC in my first fortnight!). The book is written in an easy-to-read style. I feel as if I have Paul speaking to me every time I read it! It is now my toilet book. I read extracts of it every day.
Chapter two outlines the four golden rules that you need to follow to lose weight. The rules are: (1) When you are hungry, eat! (2) Eat what you want, not what you think you should! (3) Consciously enjoy every single mouthful, and (4) When you think you are full, stop eating. This is the only chapter you need to read to lose weight, the rest just helps you to follow the rules and gives you motivation. The chapter on exercise is particularly motivating and the craving buster really does work!
There is one exercise which is supposed to stop you from having the desire to eat a food of your choosing for ever. I must confess that the first time I tried this with chocolate, it only worked for several weeks. Paul says you need to repeat this exercise and I would tend to agree. I only did it once and have subsequently eaten chocolate. However, during the first few weeks after doing it, the desire was completely, 100% gone!
The CD which accompanies the book is brilliant! I find it far easier to stick to the rules when I've been listening to the CD regularly. You don't have to use it (I know my sister doesn't and she's lost weight) but it is a very big help if you do.
I've lost two stone so far and am feeling great! There are times when I don't stick to the rules (like my birthday last month!) but even then, I truly find it impossible to overeat.
The only disadvantage with this system is that now that I've discovered it, I want to tell the world (hence the reason why I felt compelled to review this for my first Ciao review!) It's also very frustrating to see my best friend downing Slim Fast shakes and admitting she's hating every second of it when she has this book gathering dusk on her shelf at home!
So, in a nutshell, please, please try this system if you want to stop trying every new diet that comes along. Everything you need is contained within the pages of this concise book and accompanying cd. Thanks for reading and good luck!
