Everyone who knows my son knows how much he hates having a wash or a bath! So I thought this book would be a good way of persuading him that bath time can be fun.

I don`t want to have a bath!
This is a hardback book with paper pages, on the cover is a picture of mummy tiger and her baby who is clinging onto a branch as he does not want to get wet.
Little Tiger loves to play games and somehow even though he does not mean it he lands up getting dirty, so Mummy Tiger tells him it is time for him to have a bath only Little Tiger does not want a bath.
One day Mummy Tiger takes Little Tiger to the river so that he can have a wash she tells him bathing is fun but little tiger replies "I don`t want a bath!" and hurries off into the jungle before Mummy Tiger can make him.
In the story we get to meet little monkey, little bear, little elephant, and little rhino who all land up having bath when their parents ask them to. Little Tiger continues to go through the jungle and it seems to be very quiet when he sees a beautiful peacock, he asks the peacock to play with him but she tells him that he is too dirty and for him to have a bath!
Little Tiger walks away feeling quite hurt by the peacocks words and he reaches the river where he decides to have a drink as he is thirsty. He notices a reflection but does not think that it can be him as he is not that dirty so he takes a closer look and falls into the river.
Finally Little Tiger realises that it was him and that he was very dirty, so he has his bath and has fun at the same time. He gets out of the river to head home only he is stopped by Little Leopard who asks him to play, Little Tiger tells him no because the leopard is too dirty and hurries home to his mummy.
The illustrations in the book are really great and I love the detail of each of the animals, it really brings the book to life and pictures tell a story of their own which is good as my son is able to tell his own story.
What do I think?
Everyone who knows my son knows how much he hates having a wash or a bath! So I thought this book would be a good way of persuading him that bath time can be fun.
My big concern about the book is the fact that the tiger goes off on his own and lands up in the river, it is like the author is saying that it is alright for a child to wander off and to go jump in a pond or something which is why I have given the book such a low rating. Which is a pity as it has a very good story and my son loved reading about all the animals, as we were reading this book my son kept telling us that little tiger was being very naughty for going off without his mummy or daddy. When we got to the part where little tiger falls into the river my son got very upset and told us that little tiger was very very naughty as he could have got hurt.
The other thing I do not like about the book is at the end where little tiger meets little leopard, the tiger is quite rude and I am just a little bit worried that should we keep reading this book to my son he might start to think that it is ok for him to be rude to children in his nursery or Sunday school.
I would say this book is for ages 3 - 7, there are quite a few words in the book but the letters are large enough for a young reader to be able to start reading on their own.
