I wanted something cheap that I could play mp3's on while I was on the train to go and see my boyfriend.Train journeys are a nightmare aren't they?Anyway I was due to go and see my boyfriend a week after I ordered this product. With next day ... ...that week. But delivery people being as lazy as they are I didn't get it while 2 weeks after.Anyway enough about that on to the important stuff like....
*Does it work?*
The short answer to this is "like a dream".It plays really well which I wasn't expecting for the price we payed for it.The music fades in (I think you can change that though somewhere on the menu). The sound goes up to volume 40 which when it's ... more

I wanted something cheap that I could play mp3's on while I was on the train to go and see my boyfriend.Train journeys are a nightmare aren't they?Anyway I was due to go and see my boyfriend a week after I ordered this product. With next day delivery I thoguht i'd be able to try it out that week.
The sound goes up to volume 40 which when it's in your ears is loud enough believe me!And you can play it using the battery power or the charger that comes with it (more about what comes with it in a minute). It doesn't like to play anything that is scratched.I found that a lot of CD's that my HIFI would play, this wouldn't play them. This shows that it is good quality and that it doesn't risk damaging the CD's further. It can however get annoying if you have the tiniest little scratch on your favourite CD and it won't play it.
*What comes with this MP3/WMA/CD player then?*
Well you get:
The main player
2AA Alkaline batteries
7 key remote controller
High quality Earphone with clip
Instruction manual and functional codes table
Carrying case
DC Adapter (Optional)
Well from what I recall I didn't get the carrying case unless someone has hidden it,so I can't really comment on that.
*The main player*
This is obviously where you put the Cd's in and there are several control buttons you can press. The controls are:
Volume
Navigate (in between the volume buttons)
A round button with play, next track, stop, and previous track on.
A program button
+10 button
A mode button
An EQ/Resume button
There is also the screen which while loading a CD,shows some people (stickmen type people)dancing.I like the colour scheme of it.It is simple with a pearl colour and blue around the buttons and screen.
At the back is where you put the batteries in and there is a sticker which gives you the serial number and the model and where it is manufactured and stuff.
*7 Key remote controller*
This is something you plug into the side of the main player where it shows a picture of headphones. This is for if you are planning on using the earphones instead of the charger. It's quite small and easily fits into your hand. The wire is quite long too which means that you can have the player quite a fair distance away from you.It basically has the same controls and I forgot to mention the hold button that is also featured on the main player. The hold button basically stops the CD.If you have the hold button on then you cannot play any music.
*Earphones*
Not much explanation is needed here I don't think.Basically you can plug them into the 7 key remote controller or into the main cd player itself.
*Instruction manual and functional codes table*
Well this has to eb the biggest load of rubbish i've ever recieved with something.I'm one of these people that don't usually look at instruction manuals.I usually just have a mess with the product first and if I get stuck I read the manual. Now the manual is basically 2 sheets of A4 plain paper stapled together with what is supposed to be easy to use instructions.I have found them to be absolutely useless.
I found this out because I was messing around with the player and I found that the buttons on the main CD player wouldn't work.So I just stopped and turned the player off (well it turned itself off after around 30 seconds). When I put it back on again it told me instead of 257 tracks like I had before I now only had 40.I had no idea what I'd done and I spent a full hour reading throguh the 2 sheets of what i had been given.Nothing made sense. There was not 1 mention of how to sort out the problem or even what the problem was.All the instruction manual does is tell you what each mode does.It doesn't tell you how to work the modes though.
So if I was you I wouldn't bother with them. The best way to do stuff is to work them out yourself.I've finally managed to get it working properly again now thank god :)
*The features*
*It plays standard audio cd's as well as home-made CD-R and CD-RW discs.
*It supports popular music formats including MP3,WMA and ASF
*Firmware Up-gradability :emerging standards and enhanced features.
*Has shock protection up to 120 seconds
*It plays up to 15 hours with 2 AA batteries or plays non-stop using the AC adapter or DC/DC converter in your car.
*It has easy navigation on large backlit LCD
*Has sleek 8 functions remote control
*It has adjustable equalizer, repeat and shuffle play modes, programmable playlists.
*It supports ID3 tags,audio CD text,and a title display
So as you can see it has many functions. I haven't tried them all out yet as I am still new to the player but in time I'm sure i'll try out everything. Now onto something that a lot of people will want to know:
Firmware Upgrade = New Digital Audio Format&Enhanced Features
LCD = Large Character 4-Line LCD for ID3 support (w/built in backlite)
Case = ABS (top),PC+ABS material (bottom)
ESP-Time = 120 seconds MP3/WMA (Audio 10 or 40 seconds)
So there you go that's all the speciafications you'll need to know for this product.
*How much I paid for it*
Well it cost £79.99 in a sale on a website if you ask i'm sure I can tell you :) It was knocked down from £149.To em this is a great bargain and the quality is amazing and the functions.
This is my first ever MP3 player and I think it's the best one I could possibly have got.I would recommend tis to anybody who is looking for one.Apart from the missing carry case (which I wouldn't use anyway) and the Useless instructions this is a really good purchase.
Advantages: Small, light, the best Disadvantages: non found yet
...The availability of the i-river mp3 player is good at a reasonable price if you're willing to shop around. All in all, it’s a great new little thing. Just one thing, I would buy the Sony ear phones from Argos for £19.99 as a slight improvement on the ones that come with it!! Don’t allow this to take anything from the electronic geniuses at I-river. Thank you people. Its great!! Andrew. ...
