Being a longtime fan of metal and hard rock, Ozzy's autobiography named I am Ozzy caught my attention. I agree that lots of people would agree with the fact that it's a miracle that he is still alive, the book itself is easy to read without too much complicated english. As he stated in the book "he is not the fucking encyclopedia of Britannica".

In the beginning we are introduced to how his alcoholic father predicted John's (oz) future. John was going to either become something big, or go to prison. Before passing the age of 18 his first jail sentence took place. We learned that he is dyslexic, lived under poor conditions, and would at times be involved in stealing in order to get money. One of Ozzy's first job careers was at the slaughter house where he would enjoy torturing animals, which may sound like a cruel gesture to animal lovers.

In many of the chapters we read about touring with Black sabbath, how his musical career lead to a life of alcohol, and various substance abuse. We never really got to know too much about his first marriage, but how he fell in love with Sharon is another era of his life, that we can read plenty of information about. What her having children did to him, the loving way he talk about her, and how drugs affected their marriage through difficult times.

I would recommend any substance/alcohol addict to read I am ozzy, because it's a really inspiring source of information for people wanting to come clean. Towards the end we read about how he is enjoying a clean, joyful life. But how he managed to become sober after a severe addiction problem like this, is still a mystery.

Sharon is a really strong woman, based on past circumstances written about in the book. This proves how true love can overcome just about anything in life.

Ozzy is showing a emotional side of himself, that most of us never really saw other places than "I am ozzy". It's clear that he is genuine, open, honest and not hiding anything from anyone. Spreading his life story, must have a great therapeutic effect on him.

A nice amount of photos really added something extra to the book. As he speak about his life, the photos visually bring better understanding, and enhances the reading experience.

If you want a book that is emotional, funny, visual and entertaining I am Ozzy is the right book for you.
