Just Plain Bored!

Advantages: It's not terribly expensive
Disadvantages: It's not terribly funny

For years, a friend of mine kept going on about a book that was a parody of "The Lord of the Rings". At the time it was out of print, but he would quote one of the lines from it at every opportunity and bemoan the fact that he never had a copy of his own. Fortunately, the surge of interest in the original books when the films were being made resulted in a republication of the parody and so he was finally able to own his own copy of "Bored of the Rings". Intrigued by years of his going on and on about it, so was I. Following rather loosely the plot of "The Lord of the Rings", Frito Bugger is charged with a quest to travel across the world and destroy a ring. Review of Bored Of The Rings - Henry Beard & Douglas Kenney

Keeping the Bearded Dragon...

Advantages: Lovely sociable reptiles, can be handled, interact well with humans
Disadvantages: Vitamin supplements can be tricky to get used to

Bearded Dragons (often affectionately called Beardies) are often referred to as being easy to keep. This is true to a certain extent as they do not need such specialist care as some of the other reptiles (such a Chameleons) but you still need to do plenty of research, especially about their diet and vitamin supplements. Price I paid £60 for my Bearded Dragon when he was about 2 months old. I find that locally adult Bearded Dragons are more expensive and can cost up to £120. I always like to get my animals from young and watch them grow into adults. Housing Bearded Dragons are kept in vivariums. My Bearded Dragon is kept in a vivarium made totally of wood, which has glass sliding doors at the front. If you buy a Beardy from a young age then it can be better to keep them in a smaller viv as they will look lost in a larger viv ...

Review of Bearded Dragons

Penguin - Polly Dunbar

Advantages: enjoyable
Disadvantages: none

) that gets a penguin for a present. You can see by the picture that Ben is pleased with his present. "Hello penguin. What shall we play" said Ben. Penguin said nothing. "Can't you talk?" said Ben Penguin said nothing. Ben then starts to do silly things such as pulling faces, dancing, singing and standing on his head. Still penguin said nothing. Ben gets frustrated and starts to do horrible things to penguin to try to make him talk, still nothing. Penguin ends up saving Ben but I am not going to tell you how it happens. The book is simple for children to understand and talk about as the words are written in simple sentences and the pictures are amusing. It repeats penguin said nothing. Young children seem to like things being repeated in books, it might be boring for adults but children enjoy knowing what is coming next and being able to ...
