When I personally ask about Ibanez acoustics I am constantly told that they are not as good as the many rivals going around the shops so when I bought this guitar I was not expecting much. My, I was suprized. From the first time I strummed an E major open chord I was stunned as to how thick and full the sound was. This is because of the extra large flamed sycamore topped body and maple sides/back. The sheer size of the guitar makes it ideal for jamming unplugged, but this guitar does not let itself down when amplified either. It comes with XLR and 1/4 inch outputs to preamp make it easy to fit into and amplifier or PA and once it's hooked up, you can concentrate on the EQ. This is because this guitar comes with a B-Band UST Pickup with a filter for each notch and a built in tuner. This can help you achieve almost any sound without the need for an external EQ system. The tuner comes in handy too, for last minute tune ups before taking to the stage. Probably not suitable for beginners as it does have quite a high action. This could be fixed in a guitar shop or by a luther but it's really not worth it. The high action does mean there is very little fretbuzz and even when there is, it's minimal. I've had this guitar for over a year now and have had only one problem. I did have to tighten the 1/4 inch jack input slighty, but other than that - no problems. It's neck is not luxurious but for a mid-range guitar it feels really nice. The sturdy mahogany neck is coupled with a rosewood fretboard which although can feel a little gritty, does not affect the sound. Tuners are gold and Ibanez's very own and the strap button is helpfully placed on the back of body. Overall, a beautiful looking guitar and sounds just as grand to me. Can really bring out the bassy tones aswell as trebley ones and is ideal for almost any type of acoustic music. It's louder than you think it'll be!
