Advantages: excellent effect range Disadvantages: expensive new/you will need a power supply
...I had been searching for the right delay pedal for a few years and i had read a lot of good press about the Boss DD5. My Friend had an earlier version (DD2 or 3) and as i liked the range of effects on that peddle i took a gamble and purchased a DD5.
I managed to purchase a second hand DD5 (this cost me £95). I believe that new they are around £150 mark, so they aint cheap that's for sure.
The good news is that it is an absolute beauty.
Firstly, the sheer amount of variations of delay is incredible. From straight forward delay variations to backwards loops to an ability to press and hold the footpedal and record a phrase which is then repeated for`ever whilst you play something neat over the top of it.
You can achieve the most amazing effects simply by tweeking the various dials a few degrees here and there.

Advantages: Tons of different options and sounds. Disadvantages: Expensive and power-consuming.
...There are only two criticisms I can make about this pedal, and neither of them should in any way discourage you from buying one. Firstly, if you buy a brand new one from this country, it'll set you back £175 big ones. So import one instead. Secondly, it eats 9 volt batteries for breakfast, so you'd be wise to splash out on a decent adaptor to save money in the long term.
Apart from that, all I can say is - "I love this pedal!" It has about 10 different modes, including four different types of delay, a "hold" mode which repeats what is played ad infinitum, and one of those rather spiffy backwards guitar effects. I bought one because I'd heard that Nick McCabe from The verve used to use an earlier model, and I can't recommend it enough....

Advantages: Great sound, Ibanez quality Disadvantages: Too sharp and pointy for rugged use
...The RG270DX is another of Ibanez's seemingly unlimited supply of quality guitars. Not much differs from this baby to its brethren, except for one or two small features. I bought the guitar from my music shop 2 days after it came in, and like all Ibanez guitars, it impressed. However, I found myself bored and underwhelmed with the guitar, and exchanged it for a Yamaha Pacifica 3 days later.
The look is classic Ibanez - Super Strat design with rediculously sharp contours and a great, sporty looking neck. There are many different paint jobs to choose from, black and metallic dark blue included
No Ibanez is bad. That said, not many Ibanez guitars are truly great. This guitar falls into the category in the middle, the "Fine" category, where the guitar will please to no end but won't make you scream with pleasure. I find all too often...
