Mercedes 300SEL , S320 Limo 1993.
How I acquired the vehicle?
In my course of work (Mobile vehicle mechanic) I meet a lot of people in the trade.
Because of this, I get the nod when any quality vehicles turn up in the scrapper (for what ever reason they were scrapped).... many times this is down to un-economic repair costs.
Which are for this beast, astronomical? ...well if you are prey to main dealer prices and practices, cars like this will never be owned by the 'less well offs' and I include myself in that statement. It's better to be lucky than rich sometimes.
For me, it's a case of; sod the usual car buying outlets and get your self down the scrapper. Lucky for me then!
On first inspection of this car in the breakers yard, I was shocked by its size; it was huge, damaged, covered in dust + thick mud caked the wheel ...
Advantages: Luxury, Style, Performance Disadvantages: Expensive, Big
My boss at my previous job owned one of these so i was used to driving it around the site and up and down the road, so this is just what its like to drive, NOT own, im only 18!!! well this s320 was fully loaded with extras including chrome wheels! to drive it was really smooth especially considering its a diesel, no way can you tell, its just so quiet. Everything about this car is luxurious from the keyless start and interior showed that this was an expensive car built with class.
Performance wise for the size of it it is really quick and smooth and quiet when you floor it, no usual diesel roar as is common when you floor most diesel car, plus it feels like your hardly moving the ride is so smooth.
On the negative side its a big car so parking can be awkward especially when you are paying so much for it and dont want to scratch ...
Advantages: Lightweight, Low Action, Awesome Shape Disadvantages: Large Headstock.
-Ibanez IC400 Iceman-
Wow, i have not written a review in YEARS! Since 2005! I feel like my heads about to explode. You'll have to bare with me on this one cause ive got to get back into the swing of things.
As with every guitar, the Iceman has a history. Hoshino Gakki, the developer of the Iceman, wanted to make a distinctly Japanese looking guitar, as, before this time, Ibanez had been making replica copies of Fender Strats and Gibson Les Pauls and such. So after a meeting between Ibanez, and another guitar manufacturer, Greco, the "Iceman" design was born. Ibanez got the distributing rights for outside of Japan, and Greco for in Japan. Thats pretty much the history. So now for the guitar itself!!
I picked it up second hand from ebay for about 350 quid, although you can buy them new nowadays for anywhere between 420 and 470 ...
The Ibanez S320 6-String Electric Guitar, Weathered Black. Good craftsmanship, looks, and fat mahogany tone with plenty of sustain and ZR tremolo. The Ibanez S320 guitar was originally designed as an all-round guitar. Now, however, the S now finds its largest number of adherents among the practitioners of the more extreme forms of metal who appreciate the S for its unique combination of fat mahogany tone and sustain with light weight and comfort. The ZR tremolo may be the most significant advance in locking tremolos since the first locking tremolo. Most floating tremolos use a knife-edge system, but the ZR tremolo uses a ball-bearing based system for precision and friction-free smooth action. A highly playable guitar for stage or studio. The main features of the Ibanez S320 include: Good craftsmanship, looks, and fat mahogany tone with plenty of sustain and ZR tremolo Heavy mahogany tone without the heavy mahogany weight Thin around the edges for comfort. Fat around the pickups and bridge for tone Neck type: 3pc Wizard II neck, 25.5 inch scale Body: Mahogany body Fret: Jumbo frets Bridge: ZR Tremolo bridge Neck Pickup: INF1 (H) neck pu Bridge Pickup: INF2 (H) bridge pu H-H (5-Way) Pickup Switching
