I scream for ice-cream! Gaggia Gelatiera
Advantages: Simple, quick, easy to clean Disadvantages: Some might consider it quite big
I'd forgotten we even owned an ice-cream maker (that's how long it hasn't been used for!!), when my mum today suggested I make an ice-cream to go with the deserts for tomorrow afternoon's barbecue... Ok, Ok, I admit, I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to kitchen gadgets, people always seem to buy things, use them once or twice, then the novelty wears off and they just clog up the cupboards for years and years until there's a massive clean out, and ... ...you I may well change my mind when I get my own kitchen to fill up with things!! So, I had a trawl through the various recipe books we've got and then the internet to see what I could find, and I have to say I'm amazed at how easy and quick it was! Firstly, I'll tell you a bit about the process, and then I'll get on to the machine itself. ~*THE RECIPE*~ I decided to go for Rocky Road ice-cream today, and chose a recipe off the 'net. (I've put the ...

Icecream maker
Advantages: looks pretty Disadvantages: big machine, small capacity, complicated compared to other machines
My son bought me this because my previous ice cream maker had died.
I have to admit that the first time we used the machine the ice cream was delicious, but since then it has been used very little.
As with other makers, you have to put the bowl into the freezer before using.
You have to prepare the custard, which can be time consuming, and once you put it into the machine you have to watch it to make sure it churns properly. You have to use the ... ...to store the made ice cream.
It doesn't make enough icecream for it to be used a a party or even to satisfy a small family.
It has become too much of a hassle to get this machine out, prepare the custard, and then have not enough icecream...so it is sitting in the cupboard and rarely sees the light of day.
A big, pretty looking machine, that doesn't come up to expectations. ...

The best ice cream maker
Advantages: Easy to clean and maintain. Automatic. Big capacity. Disadvantages: Noisy
This professional ice cream maker is excellent for making great quality ice cream, sorbets and ice cream yoghurt. It comes with a good selection of ice cream and sorbets recipes for everyone's taste. It's easy to clean and maintain. No need to pre-freeze the bowl. Everything is automatic. You only need to add the ingredients to the bowl and let the ice cream maker do the rest. And here you are left with time to do other things in the kitchen or around ...

Mrs Whippy made by me.
Advantages: Home made ice cream Disadvantages: expensive and you will get fat
...Darren had bought me a Cuisinart Ice Cream Professional (ICE50BCU).
Cuisinart have been making professional kitchen equipment for over 30 years, they make everything from toasters, food processors and blenders, steamers, griddles, wok and slow cooker, for dessert, they make a waffle iron and ice cream maker and two coffee machines. Their products are rather expensive but a built to last (a five year guarantee is given on everything) and tend to ... ...for £259.99. As this was a birthday present I am keeping it, however if I was buying one myself, I would have probally spent a lot less.

PLASTIC RUBBISH
Advantages: Works very well Disadvantages: Plastic painted silver finish becomes badly scored after 1st use
I bought this as it was good looking and was supposed to be chrome or stainless, depending on whose site information you read. It is PLASTIC painted silver. It arrived yesterday, and on first use, cosmetic fracture lines appeared on the top of the machine radiating out from the ice cream bowl. My husband a design engineer said it is due to the heat from the refrigeration units and the cold from the freezing process, affecting the silver painted PLASTIC ...
