DIY Ice Cream!

Advantages: Simple set up, simple to use, inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Time consuming to prepare bowl&ingredients.Maximum of 2batches at a time

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why an Ice Cream Maker? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Well I'm with a website where you earn points and these points can be exchanged for free gifts. So after not much deliberation I decided to get an ice cream maker. I chose this particular model as it was the one that I could afford with my points! The advantages of having an ice cream maker are pretty clear when you look at the price of my favourite Ben and Jerry's Ice creams. ...
...going into my ice cream. There are only natural fruits and none of the nasty E numbers that we all dread to see on the ingredients lists of our foods. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Price and availabilty ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's not a very expensive peice of kit to be honest and it is readily available both online and in store. They sell this for £14.99 from amazon.co.uk and my friend got her's from Currys for £19.99. It's great value for money but you can ...
COME CHURN WITH ME
Advantages: Churns and Freezes in one
Disadvantages: Bowl has to be frozen for 24 hours before use
...ownership of a brand new Kenwood IM250 Ice Cream Maker…….and wow….after about two months of use…..I am so impressed!!! I wish I had bought one of these years ago. = This ice cream maker has a bowl which has to be frozen for 24 hours before use….but hey…no problem, I store my bowl in the freezer. Before I started to keep the bowl permanently in the freezer I did check with Kenwood's customer care team that this would be ok ...
...ice cream mix, assemble the Kenwood ice cream maker, switch it on so that the paddle is turning, pour in the ice cream mixture and wait…..the instructions say that it can take anything from 15 - 30 minutes, I've found that to be able to use the ice cream straight away, it does take 30 minutes. Plenty of time to put the feet up and have a cup of coffee or tea. = I've not found any ice particles in the ice cream made with ...
Icecream maker
Advantages: looks pretty
Disadvantages: big machine, small capacity, complicated compared to other machines
My son bought me this because my previous ice cream maker had died. I have to admit that the first time we used the machine the ice cream was delicious, but since then it has been used very little. As with other makers, you have to put the bowl into the freezer before using. You have to prepare the custard, which can be time consuming, and once you put it into the machine you have to watch it to make sure it churns properly. You have to use the ...
...to store the made ice cream. It doesn't make enough icecream for it to be used a a party or even to satisfy a small family. It has become too much of a hassle to get this machine out, prepare the custard, and then have not enough icecream...so it is sitting in the cupboard and rarely sees the light of day. A big, pretty looking machine, that doesn't come up to expectations. ...
I scream for ice-cream! Gaggia Gelatiera
Advantages: Simple, quick, easy to clean
Disadvantages: Some might consider it quite big
I'd forgotten we even owned an ice-cream maker (that's how long it hasn't been used for!!), when my mum today suggested I make an ice-cream to go with the deserts for tomorrow afternoon's barbecue... Ok, Ok, I admit, I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to kitchen gadgets, people always seem to buy things, use them once or twice, then the novelty wears off and they just clog up the cupboards for years and years until there's a massive clean out, and ...
...you I may well change my mind when I get my own kitchen to fill up with things!! So, I had a trawl through the various recipe books we've got and then the internet to see what I could find, and I have to say I'm amazed at how easy and quick it was! Firstly, I'll tell you a bit about the process, and then I'll get on to the machine itself. ~*THE RECIPE*~ I decided to go for Rocky Road ice-cream today, and chose a recipe off the 'net. (I've put the ...
The best ice cream maker
Advantages: Easy to clean and maintain. Automatic. Big capacity.
Disadvantages: Noisy
This professional ice cream maker is excellent for making great quality ice cream, sorbets and ice cream yoghurt. It comes with a good selection of ice cream and sorbets recipes for everyone's taste. It's easy to clean and maintain. No need to pre-freeze the bowl. Everything is automatic. You only need to add the ingredients to the bowl and let the ice cream maker do the rest. And here you are left with time to do other things in the kitchen or around ...
