This is one of my favourite shops and until I moved to Warrington I had never heard of them.

Iceland first started in the early seventies and it became so popular that it spread nationwide. I like this shop as they have their beliefs and they are not afraid to speak out on things.

In 1997 they started their home delivery and again this first started out in the store and then became accessible via the store or the internet. Now lets get this straight as this does cause some confusion. You can go into the store and do a shopping list or shop yourself and ask for a home delivery. You can also shop on line and have home delivery. In 1998 they spoke out against the government who were at the time going on about gm food. They banned this from their own brands and also do not have artificial colourings or flavours in their foods.

They are also supportive of many charities and each year they pick one. This year it is the Breast Cancer Charity, in previous years it has been the Northern Ireland Chest and Heart and they also have an ongoing support of the National Missing Persons.

Most of the stores are set out quite similar and the store I am talking about is Birchwood in Warrington.

Our store is situated in a shopping complex and is accessed via one of 4 entrances that take you into the centre. When you first walk through the store you can see the tills to the left of the entrance door and and it floor tiled through out.

The store is very brightly lit and there is a white board in the front of the store telling you what windows they have spare for delivery. There is a small bread section to the right on the first aisle and also they have a special offers on the right.

As you start to walk down the aisles, you will notice lots and lots of long chest freezers that lift up. They have transparent lids so you can see what you are buying.

Every part of the store is well signed posted as what is in each section and the food is always clearly marked up with the price and label.

They have lots of special offers on and at the moment until 17th December, crikes I will have to get there in the next day or so, they have the Christmas Dinner offer on. This will set you back £10 and you make a saving of over £8. I always buy my Christmas Dinner from here as I just go to their freezer and it is all in there for you to get out. At the moment you get, an 11lb turkey, sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes, prawns, and a Pavlova cake for desert. Last year in our store they ran out of the normal size turkeys and offered their customers 20lb ones. We were eating turkey for every after but saved us a lot of money.

They also have sections like, meat, chicken, fish, microwave meals, pizzas, ice cream and deserts section and vegetable. The store throughout is very clean.

They have special offers if you buy one you get one free and this can save you a bit of money. They do limit some of their offers to 3 per person. This is easily rectified as I drag my hubby up with me and he does his mums shopping whilst I can concentrate on mine.

Also they will sell food off cheaply if it is coming up to sell by dates or the foods are been discontinued and you can get some really good bargains here.

They have offers on things like microwave meals which normally are really good as they do a good sized meal for a low price. You can do a bit of bulk buying here to save a bit of money.

When you get down to the bottom of the aisles there are large floor to ceiling fridges. In these they sell, cheese, bread, milk, bacon and basically most fresh food that you require.

On walking down to the last aisle the freezers stop and the food is convenience food such as dog food, tinned food, bread, and the like. At the bottom of the aisle is the alcohol department and this is always well stocked and quite often they will have special offers on them.

Around the store at arm level, just above the freezers are shelves which stock things like gravy, sauces, packets of pasta and pop, tea bags and coffee. Again keep an eye out on these as you can get some good offers.

I can also recommend their own Christmas Cake which is only £2.99 and is great for a small family.

I would recommend this store to any one. When you get to the end of the aisles you are approaching the tills and the staff have always been very helpful and polite. They have trolleys waiting for you and also baskets depending on how much you are going to spend their.

They stock their own branded foods as well as well known brands and the prices are very competitive. The staff have also been very helpful and only once have I had to replace something and they did it without any problem

Do not forget if you are going to get your Christmas Dinner here it finishes on Wednesday.
