My previous phones had served me well, and I had really abused them to be honest. I had a pair, one for the living room, and one in the bedroom. Both had been launced at various times :-)
I was walking around Tesco, getting a few bits and pieces for Sunday dinner, and happened to start browsing at the electrical items they had ( being a gadget freak, I always wonder while shopping :-) )
I found the I-Dect X1 ( twin pack ) which I took a real like to straight away. For me initially it was the design of the handset, its very slim and sleek looking, which I really liked. It didnt look bulky and horrible like my old BT handsets. I started to look at the display model ( paying careful attention not to pull on the security cord, which I have done a couple of times before while browsing stuff, and ended up very red faced when a memeber of staff had come over to see what was going on !! )
I liked the style of the phone, and its very 'nice' to hold, so I decided for the £49.99 that they were being sold for - for a pair, that I would take a set, and try them out.
When I got home, I unboxed them straight away. The main phone has a larger base unit than the 'second' one, which were all packed very tidily in the box. Everything is already supplied with the phone, which includes your telephone cords etc, and the rechargable batteries which you just have to pop into the back of the handsets. The phones stand vertically onto the base units, which then charge the rechargable batteries. It states in the instructions, to charge for 15 hours before use, but being a gadget freak, and never really reading instructions, I put them on charge for about an hour, and then started playing with one of them.
There are loads of functions on the phone, which include caller display ( just phone your telephone provider to see if they can enable it on your telephone line, with BT its free, and takes just 24 hrs for them to activiate it - that way you can see who is calling you ) It also has an 'address book' where you can then save and store your fav numbers, and name them. This is also handy when you have caller display enabled on your line, as it will then say ( if you have that number saved in your address book ) the person who is calling you :-)
The screen itself of the phone is very nice, with a blue effect on the text on the backlit screen. Made a nice change for me, and makes it look much more modern than older phones, and definatley more modern than my previous BT phones.
The handsets can also be named, and as standard are called Handset 1 and obviously Handset 2. I renamed mine to Living Room, and Bedroom, so it just helps when you put them back, in case you are like me, and always walk around while on the phone ( I dont know why I do that ! )
The display also shows an icon for your signal strength, and also the battery life left. The signal on these phones is far superior to my old BT Dect Phones, which I thought wouldnt be improved that much, but living in a coach house, I have my garage downstairs, and when ever using my old BT Phones, the line would cut off if I went into the garage. With the I-Dect it works fine, i can still talk - the signal doesnt get lost - so I can only say that the signal quality is improved over my old Dect phone. I can walk to the back of the house, a good 20 meters before the phone is cut off. ( Be careful, as the phone is so sleek, I have a couple of times popped it in my pocket, you forget its there until you have driven half way down the road !! )
Another cool function on this phone, is the handsfree function, where you can talk, and hear through the external speaker on the handset, very cool, especially if you are trying to cook, or wash the dishes, and you have a call, you can carry on with what you were doing, rather than trying to get a stiff neck while you covertly keep the phone rested to your ear by sticking your head to your shoulder.
You can also do an 'internal call' and phone through to the other handset in the house, which is quite cool. On an incoming call, you can also transfer the caller to the other handset - so if the call is for someone else, who has the phone in their room, or another part of th ehouse, you can transfer the call to them, rather than having to go and give them the phone. Another cool function is the 'babysitter' mode. You can program in one number, and then basically 'lock' the phone, the only number the babysitter can then call is the one programmed ( quite a good idea, until I looked through the instructions a bit more on this one, and it wont allow calls to 999 while in this mode, which I think is a bit stupid )
The only let down on the phone is the ringtones - there are 5 to choose from, but none of them are that 'good' they are ok as home ringtones go, but I thought that these could of been updated, they sound a little bit like 'office' phones.... Maybe this is something that they could look at for next models they make.
The phone also doesnt have an answerphone function, not that this bothers me, as I use BT's 1571 service anyway, which is free. They did have a model with the answerphone function added on, which was about another £25 - £30 which I didnt see the point in paying for as I have it for free anyway.
All in all, I think this is a classy, well designed, and looking phone, and I am now proud to allow visitors to use my phone when asking, rather than being embarrased by my old BT Dect phones which were being held together with sellotape.
Twin pack, for this price, the style design and functions, I would definately recommend them. Go and take a look at them - really they are great.
Advantages: Stylish. compact, easy to use and a great price Disadvantages: Buttons are small but are still easy to use
This is light, easy to use and very stylish at a fantastic price. I paid only £54.00 for a twin set and looking around what I could buy for that and more I consider myself to have a bargain.
I was orginally drawn to this for its style but is has so many more advantages.
It is slim and not chunky like most other phones I looked at. The base they sit on is small, especially for the second handset so it hasn't taken up much room as I found with my ... ...The other great thing about the second handset is that it doesn't need a telephone socket, just an electrical point. This does however mean that you cannot have a three way conversation. Only one handset at a time can be used.
The other great point for me was the buttons. They are metal and had the numbers above them. Most telephones I looked at had rubber numbers with the numbers on the buttons - this normally means after alot of use the numbers ...

Advantages: unique design, cordless, sensitive buttons, LCD display, docking station, cheap Disadvantages: None at all
...I decided to but the IDECT X1 cordless phone for £35 because it looks extremely cool and is packed with useful gadgets thats were bound to come in handy at some stage.
The phone sits in a little port which naturally plugs into the main socket to receive a signal and I have found that call quality is fantastic when wandering around the flat a distances up to 50 metres from the port. The battery lasts for anything up to 10 hours when not stored in ... ...it is blue and the numbers are white they show up really clearly even in fading light so I don't see this as a flaw. If you need a cordless phone you couldn't do better than the DECT IDECT X1, it's a cracking little phone for the price. ...

...my suprise i saw the idect x1 on offer for £15, i picked up the box and immidiatly liked the look of the phone on the box. So off i went to the till and purchased my new phone. So off i went home to try out the new phone.

It was actually quite simple, the phone came with 2 rechargable batteries which needed putting into the phone then it was just a case of plug into the phone socket, plug into the power suply and charge. it was as easy as that. The phone itsself has several options you can chose the ring volume and the ringing tune. There is also an option to store numbers in the phone but these do not appear as caller id ...

Advantages: Survives being thrown at walls during arguments. Disadvantages: 2/3 AAA batteries expensive, phones uncomfortable for long conversations.
We have owned a pair of these for 2-years, and they do unfortunately have some bad points. On face value they look stylish, but you will come to find them uncomfortable during a long conversation. Their buttons are small and difficult to see. But the bit which has finally prompted us to replace them is that you can't buy replacement batteries.
This phone uses 2/3 AAA batteries, which can be bought online, but for a premium price.
There are a very ... ...noises, none of them sound like a traditional phone, or even like a modern phone for that matter. It's a nasty tinny beep.
The Caller ID does not retain a date stamp. The phones do not share their phonebooks. International telephone calls, you won't be making any. Since the phone blocks them. We met another couple who visited our house a few months back, and these phones made a talking point for a few minutes, since they had some too. The main agreement ...

Advantages: very small, stylish, decent phone, speaker phone Disadvantages: occational loss of connection with base receiver
I bought this phone several weeks ago and i'll share my experience with you
I searched the web for the cheapest deal which was £35 delivered
Ordered the phone and had it delivered a few days later, opened the box and initially was suprised at the size of the phone, it's alot smaller than it looks in the pictures but i figured that was a good thing, it was the silver version with chrome keys
in the box came the base unit , adapter, batteries, handset, ... ...period as directed by the manuals, it actually charged fully in around 8 hours
it has a lovely bright blue screen and a built in speaker phone which is sufficiently loud and the sound quality was clear and the range is stated to be several hundred meters which is great
im very happy with the phone, i wanted a phone that was cordless, stylish and good quality at a fair price and i got all that with this phone, the only negative is occasionaly, it ...
