IIyama is definitely one of most recognized and respected both CRT and LCD manufacturer,( for Windows and Macintosh) and that places it above other producers on market because of it's expirience, and japanese origin. Sometimes people say that company that is focused on one specific item makes better stuff and if it comes about IIyama i can fully agree.
External look
IIyama vision master pro 1413 17" is simple monitor without addons like speakers or tvtuner and is available in cream (white) color ( some other models comes in black or silver ). Unusual design creates a picture of massive and solid construction and reminds me an oval cut in half. Monitor is put together very well, all joints fits perfectly. Even being a low budget product still looks as new; plastics used to assebble are rather good quality and have not yellowed yet. Everything is rounded and there is no place for sharp edges or corners like in other models I have seen. Top of the monitor has a lot of space to put even a bigger center speaker on it. Good plastics makes cleaning the surface very easy, wet cloth does the job in most cases. Worst to clean is the rear top part where most of ventilation holes are placed, but who looks there anyway. Best of all are power and osd menu control buttons; well design and very comfortable when touching it requires a minimum force to work, same as clicking a mouse. Screen is placed very carefully and to improve it's functionality has an anti-static and anti reflection coating. (no anti-scratch coating).Alse easy to clean with special soft cloth. Stand is solid and allows to precise monitor positioning.(5/5)
Menu
Osd menu is very simple in use, all options are visible at once on a square containig adjustment icons placed around adjustment menu. It offers various functios: screen positionig, contrast, brightness and others like degauss and recall (factory settings) or language selection (eng, deu, fra, esp, ita, por). Unfortunately my model has no OPQ (optimize picture quality) function and posibility of adjusting green color. Graphics card software must be use for better and more precise calibration.(4/5)
Display
Monitor shines well, colors are true and deep. Long usage didn't decrease brightness range. It's quite good for both games and movies. I also didn't have any problems with damper wires wchich are barely visible on white or pale rasters. Max resolution is 1280X1024@60 Hz, recommended 1024X768@85 Hz. Monitor works fine in max res, and no extra irritating sounds are heard. I also didn't notice any picture distortions or blur problems, although setting the proper colours may cause a little problem at the beginning. Big advantage is posibility of spending long hours staring at the screen without risking serious headache or eye redness. (4/5)
Service & Support
Even though it's IIyama it is still just a CRT and unfortunately it has broken after almost 3 years usage. IIyama gives us 3 years door-to-door warranty. One phone call and next day monitor was taken from my doorstep and after one week i had it back again, working and polished - first i thought i got a new one. IIyama proved to be professional company that cares for costumers long time after buying their product. (5/5)
Conclusion
Vision master pro 1413 is a good and reliable product that offers acceptable parameters and fair power usage. However this monitor is not proper for more advanced and demanding users. Graphics processing requires higher resolutions and bigger screen and 17" is just not enough. Same goes with films or games - bigger os better. I have changed my PC not long ago, but monitor is still the same good (almost 6 years) old 1413. It is not a top model but proves that brand still counts, and IIyama is one of the top leaders in producing monitors.
