I had a Iiyama 17" normal monitor and was always very happy with it, so was already impressed with the name. So we scoured the internet to look for the best deal.
Bearing in mind the 19 inch size hadnt been widely available for long so we were looking at the 400 quid mark at the time and that was very comparable to some of the cheaper makes , so we had a bit of a bargain and we were happy.
You can now get one for around ... ...some non techy details.
Even though it says 19inch you actually get a viewable area of 18 inches, surrounded by the run of the mill slighty off white plastic surround (which I can never get clean!)
Underneath is a good solid base where the speakers are, and the buttons for sorting out the size and position of screen and various other monitor operations (most of which I have never used) This menu system is one of the ... more
Right. Here goes with another non techy technical review.
My hubby hasnt got the most perfect of eyesight so he wanted a really good monitor, and it had to be a big one.
We happened to be in a local PC repair place and he noticed a CRT 19inch on the side that they used to test other PC's on. He like the picture so investigated further and found it was a Iiyama.

Underneath is a good solid base where the speakers are, and the buttons for sorting out the size and position of screen and various other monitor operations (most of which I have never used) This menu system is one of the easiest I have come across which is just fine by me...saves a lot of confusion and you know how I HATE to be confused.
On the right hand side of the stand towards the back are 4 USB ports so a handy spot to plug in your mouse, printer and other gizmo's and doohickies, (but they are not USB2) And the ON/OFF switch is on the same side towards the front.
Now we get into more techy stuff. Dont panic. Its the techy bit you really aught to know when buying a monitor.
Maximum resolution is 2048 x 1536 @ 80Hz and 1600 x 1200 @ 100Hz (dont ask me what the Hz business is but I know I set mine to 1280 x 1024 and that suits me fine ) Thats the main techy bit I look for anyway.
For all leaning towards geekdom (I mean that in the nicest way coz I'm jealous that you know about these things and I dont!) You would be better off going to the website and drooling over all those bandwidth and synk numbers and such.. Here it is.... http://www.iiyama.co.uk/
As you may have guessed, the monitor has now passed to me, hubby changed to a laptop. Its over two years old and still going strong.
Advantages: Picture quality is superb, crisp & bright Disadvantages: Reliablility

The monitor I got back works ok so far but often makes buzzing noises I find distracting. Talking to a friend of mine who’s company deals with a lot of computer hardware, he tells me that Iiyama are not really a brand that they trust for reliability and have had a lot of trouble in the past with ...

Advantages: Two VGA inputs, Built in 4-Port Hub, Built in speakers Disadvantages: Average picture quality, Speakers are nothing special
The vision master pro, a nice 19" screen (18" viewable) with a few bells and whistles.
Before I talk about the screen, I'll talk about all the bits and bobs that you get with this monitor - that you wouldn't normally.
First of all, there's two VGA inputs. This allows you to use this monitor with two computers, at the same time, you then switch between inputs - chosing what input is actually displayed on the screen. While it is possible to buy seperate ... ...already there, for you to use without any extra wires or desk space taken up.
On the subject of desk space, there's a 4-port hub built into the base of the screen, allowing you to plug four devices into the base of the monitor. This is ideal for devices that need to be plugged and un-plugged on the fly, such as MP3 players, digital cameras, mobile phones, keyboards, mice, etc. On the down side however, the hub is made for the older standard USB1.1, ...

Advantages: Nice sharp-coloured flat screen and very bright Disadvantages: Very bulky and heavy
I bought this monitor 3 years ago and it has not failed me since, it has been in transit a lot to and from university and still remains robust.
The sreen is flat and very sharp even at high resolutions upto 1600x1200 and the colours are richer than that of any monitor I've seen. The USB hub that's built into the base is also very useful (stops you faffing about behind your computer). Even has built in speakers in case you badly need to hear something! ... ...carries the high brightness feature which makes games/movies look very realistic and sharp both in colour and quality. Thats something most monitors don't have! All digital the controls are standard and easy to use as well.
However there are a couple of downsides. There are two VERY VERY thin horizontal lines running across the screen where the grid-mesh is being held together because of the nature of the flat non-LCD screen. This is only noticable ...

Advantages: Big screen, Picture quality, Ease of use, USB hub. Disadvantages: Some picture problems.
Having had a trio of dodgy reconditioned Pro 451s I've so far been very happy with the performance of the Pro 454.
Size wise it’s nice and large with an 18” viewable screen which is totally flat. It has a max resolution of 1920x 1440 @ 85Hz. One improvement over the 451 is that it can run at a resolution of 1600x1200 @ 100Hhz and so avoids eye strain from prolonged use. This is the resolution I mostly use.
Picture wise you couldn’t ask for more. ... ...text is clear and sharp. There are plenty of adjustment options to tweak the display further. These are found using the buttons on the base and are easy to use.
It has a built in powered 4port USB 1.1 hub which I’ve used with many peripherals without any problems.
The monitor takes up quite a lot of space and is quite heavy.
On occasion the screen does need readjusting when powered on.
The onboard speakers are 2x1 Watt so are ok for office use ...

Advantages: Sharp Picture, Flat Screen, High Resolutions, Speakers on the front. Disadvantages: Takes up a lot of space on a desk, 2 thin horizontal lines going across the screen
This is the best monitor i have ever had, i've had it for about 2-3 years now, and i don't look to be selling it to buy a TFT or another CRT. Everything is crystal clear and very sharp! Games Play like a dream because of the cripsness of it.
I currently use a screen resolution of 1600x1200 and it handles it very well even at 120hz. The screen is completly flat, there is a usb hub connected at the side of the monitor, this is very handy if you run ... ...This monitor also has speakers built into it just incase you really need to hear something (i have never used them before, but i can imagine that they are probably not the best things in the world!) One disadvantage in my opinion would be that there are two very thin horizontal lines going across the screen (one near the top, and one near the bottom). I've been told that this is because of the flat screen instead of the usual curved CRT look. This ...
