I looked at a number of folding and tabletop options but was never really impressed with them. Finally while shopping one day at Ikea when I spotted the Antilop.
Main Features.
· The main seat part is made from Polypropylene plastic · Detachable steel lacquered legs · Additional tray and restraints available · Lightweight and very portable · Excellent value for money · Very easy to clean and maintain
The practicalities.
· The seat is a cream plastic with a centre bar to stop baby slipping away. I found it very easy to put my little boy in and out without too much fuss. The only thing that I could see as a disadvantage as it is hard plastic that it may give baby a numb bum after a while, but then I guess any highchair isn't designed for long periods of use.
· The legs are long poles with a push in nipple (don’t know how else to describe it!!) that pushes in to the base of the seat and pops into a hole. They are lightweight and easy to carry. It is very stable when together and feels quite sturdy too.
· At an additional cost you can purchase a square tray that easily clips on to the top of the seat. It is a good size and a good area for baby to play for a little while as well as eat. The other thing that impresses me about this seat is without the tray it very neatly pushes up to the side of a dining table so as baby gets older they feel more part of the dinner table. This also then eliminates the use of the tray. There are also restraining straps that can be purchased too, but personally I found the centre bar enough top hold baby still, I guess it depends on the age and stability of your baby.
· As mentioned above I bought this to be portable and found it easy to disassemble (once I had put some furniture polish on the legs so they slipped in and out easier) It was great for putting and keeping in the boot without taking up too much room. Quick and easy to put together anywhere we went.
· One of the most impressive things about this was the price. I think at the time I paid £11 for my main chair and £3 for the tray and again a few pounds for the straps. I think it is excellent value for money as a secondary or even a main chair for anyone on a budget. Looking at today’s costs you will pay £11.50 for the main seat and £3 for the tray; again I can’t find info on the straps. The prices haven’t altered much in the last 3 years.
· As this is made mainly from plastic it is very easy to clean and keep clean. I found any stubborn stains would lift with a bit of bleach spray etc. It would even take a good hosing down if needed!! The legs if got marked cleaned easily with a cif type cleaner without damaging the lacquer.
The overall measurements are
HIGHCHAIR
Width: 58 cm Depth: 62 cm Height: 90 cm Seat height: 55 cm
TRAY
Length: 42 cm Width: 42 cm Thickness: 4 cm
Personally I think all restaurants should use these as their high chairs as they stack easily on top of each other and are very easy to keep clean with no nasty nooks and crannies. The parents amongst us can relate when I say there is nothing more disgusting than dining at a restaurant with a dirty, grubby, crusted on food highchair, which you feel you have to clean yourself before you even put the child in it let alone let them eat from it!!
Mine still remains in the shed waiting patiently for Hubby to find time to get it out again so we can use it with our second baby. Luckily for him I think she is still a little bit small to sit up in it.
Advantages: Easy to clean, price Disadvantages: I've found it impossible to remove the tray once in place
...too far away from an IKEA now to easily replace it if I do!
===Using & Cleaning===
If you are tight for space and think you will need to collapse the high chair between uses, then this one isn't for you, it doesn't fold away. We have enough space to slide the chairs into a corner of the room, and I figured it takes that long to feed them both, and tidy up the mess, that spending time folding and putting the chairs away was a waste of time! The ... ...down after each use is more than enough, I do lift the chairs into the bath and give them a good hose down occassionally too!
As the 4 legs are slightly splayed out it is very sturdy, in fact now the girls are pulling themselves up on everything they love to 'climb' up the legs to a standing position themselves. Even doing this the chair doesn't topple.
Although it doesn't look to be terribly comfortable it must be comfortable enough - at least ...

Advantages: Cheap, easy to clean, good posture for baby Disadvantages: None except you have to go to Ikea to get it
...This, we discovered, was the Ikea Antilop.
Not long after, we returned to England, and soon became increasingly unhappy with our Cosatto travel high chair, and so a trip to Ikea beckoned.
Having checked on the internet that it was in stock, and being an Ikea veteran, we easily navigated our way past all the things that we didn't need (although were sorely tempted by), and into the warehouse. Using the handy computer terminal there, we located the ... ...You have to go to Ikea to get it. Although you can now order it online (although I think you can't get the tray). However, once you know how to approach an Ikea trip, it can be really very enjoyable. The trick is to go straight to the warehouse when you know what you want. It can be done, just look at the map of the store and cut across.
Personally, it is a struggle to think of negatives of this chair. We love it, and can be heard praising it up ...

Cost
Now the good but - as I said the chair and tray come seperately. The chair costs £11.99 and this includes the main seat, legs and safety belt. Just a note of caution on this the chair comes in two parts so make sure you pick up both and also keep a good hold of the safety belt - I must have dropped mine on my way to the checkout as did not have it when we got home ... ...store - 30 miles away) and explained the situation to them and they sent me the straps in the post - well done Ikea, good customer service. I also bought the matching tray which cost £3 and as I mentioned above have replaced it once.
Storage/Travelling
This is a lightweight chair which is easily dismantled to move and takes up less space than a booster seat which sits on top of a big chair. You just push the pin in twist the leg and out they pop ...

...the table. (Judging from the Ikea restaurant, they also stack very well!!)
Due to the way the child is seated in the chair-with legs swinging the lap safety belt (purchased seperately for @£2) is perfectly adequate, and I have never had any safety concerns with 2 children over a 2 year period. I also have never had any complaints of being uncomfortable..although I noted on my last trip to Ikea there were various highchair inserts now available at ...

Advantages: lightweight, easy to clean and cheap. Disadvantages: none
This is a must have! After 3 trips to Ikea, I finally managed to get my hands on this highchair. It was worth the multiple trips. This highchair is lightweight, portable and very easy to clean. You cannot go wrong with the price, it's much cheaper than any other highchair on the market. The tray is sold seperately, there is an inflatable insert that can also be bought seperately. If buying online, you should take note that the tray and the insert ...
