An Ikea highchair! 31 of 31 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages cheap, simple to use

Disadvantages no comfort for a very young child

We were on the lookout for a second highchair to keep at my parent’s house as we often pop round to their house and have a bite to eat. We didn’t want to pay out a lot as it was a second highchair and it also needed to be able to fit in the under stairs cupboard as my parents are passed having children’s things stuck out all the time in the way. As always trusty Ikea came up with the goods. My partner’s sister had brought this highchair from Ikea to leave at their dads and that’s where I got the idea to get one for my parents.

It is a great little highchair and does the job you need. It’ safe and sturdy as you would expect from Ikea. It is mainly made from plastic and has four steel legs. The legs slot into the relevant holes on the underneath of the seat there is a pin on each leg you push in and it pops out in a tiny hole on the chair. This makes sure the legs are securely in and if you lift it up to move the legs don’t fall out. The only problem I have with this is getting the legs out again! It is a really stiff pin to push back in and I have to use an object to hold it in while I slide the legs out. But I guess it’s all in the name of safety.

The seat as I have mentioned comes away from the four pole legs so is made easier for storage which is one of the things we needed. It has a clip safety belt to fasten your little one in. It only fastens round their middle so I wouldn’t recommend for really young children. As the chair is made from plastic and doesn’t look that comfortable for a young one to be sat in for a long period of time but as ours was for occasional use I wasn’t too concerned. It is easy to clean as there is little material, just the belt strap so it is easy to wipe down.

The high chair doesn’t come with a tray this is an optional add on which does cost you. Now this is handy for any of you that want to have your child up to the table rather than sat back from the group. We decided to get the tray and once we put it on we haven’t taken it off. I not sure if that’s because we can’t get it off or not!
The high chair is a good size it is 58cms wide, 62cms in depth and the total height with the legs on is 90cms. The height of just the chair is 55cms.

When we bought ours there was only red coloured available but you can also get blue and white. I think I prefer the red colour anyway. It is a unisex colour and looks less clinical than the white. But that is just personal taste.

The add on tray is as I have mentioned sold separately. It will cost you an extra £4. This isn’t too bad for a high chair. The tray is 42cms in length and width and 4cms in depth. We have found it is a decent size for your little one to use.

Neither of my sons mind the high chair it does its job as a second high chair. I’m not sure I would use it as my main one at home but maybe I’m just being a bit soft!
The highchair with safety belt will cost you £10.99 so if you were to get the tray as well it would set you back £15. I bought mine two years ago now and I seem to think it has gone up in a price a little but don’t hold me to that. Still it’s not a bad price for a brand new highchair to use at my parents.
