6 mugs - 90 pence - bargain!
Advantages cheap
Disadvantages none
I bought these Ikea Kalas plastic childrens mugs (or maybe they should be called glasses, as a mug has a handle surely!) for our little nephew to use when he stays with us. It's easier and less hassle to just duplicate a lot of things as he stays with us so often.
The mugs were the bargain price of just 90 pence from Ikea. You get 6 mugs for 90 pence, 1 of each in the following colours; dark blue, light blue, green, yellow, orange and pink. The Ikea Kalas range also consists of a set of 6 plates, a set of 6 bowls, and an 18 piece cutlery set. All are available for just 90 pence per set, and each set consists of the same 6 colourways.
The mugs are both microwave and dishwasher safe. In fact the whole of the Kalas range is microwave and dishwasher safe. I quite often put the mugs in the microwave and I've had no problems whatsoever. The mugs have been in the dishwasher more times than I care to remember and they are all absolutely fine. The mugs are stackable so they take up hardly any space in a drawer or cupboard.
They are the perfect size for a small toddler to drink from, and our little nephew loves choosing the colour that he wants to drink out of each time he has a drink. These are actually really durable and sturdy little bowls, and I've been really impressed with them, especially for the low price.
They have a matt finish to the exterior of the mug making them easy for little hands to grip and hold on to and so that they won't slip out of little hands. They have quite a wide flat surface area on the bottom so that when little hands put the mug down on a table it doesn't topple over and spill. These are the perfect size for any drink; water, juice, milk, I even use them for snacks such as carrot sticks sometimes. I've even relegated some of the mugs to now be coloured pencil holders for when he is sitiing at the table drawing and colouring. They actually have an awful lot of uses.
We have lost a couple of the mugs along the way, you take them out with you for a picnic, and sometimes they don't all end up coming home with you! But at the end of the day there's 6 mugs in the set so there's plenty more left. And even if you do end up buying another set, well it's only 90 pence. An absolute bargain, will definately buy another set.
