Us Northern Irish people are at a disadvantage - should we fancy a day out at Ikea we cannot simply jump into the car and head off, no sir - it all takes planning. Book the boat, book accomodation and clear the old credit card!
Ive been to 2 IKEA stores Newcastle and Warrington and come April l will have enjoyed the Edinburgh Shopping Experience also.
Personally l love IKEA - l love the impluse buys, the fact that furniture is soo cheap, for those starting out in their first homes IKEA is a god send.
What l hate is the way we in Northern Ireland are disadvantaged - for example should l wish to purchase a suite of furniture or anything requiring deliverly, l would have to make my own delivery arrangements. There is a lucrative market in Northern Ireland, loads of available income and an up and coming market (simply look at the housing market as an example) - basic there is money to spend and IKEA (and they are not alone) see fit to segregate us from the rest of the country.
Ok now lve got that off my chest - l love IKEA and the advantages far out weight the disadvantages (the queues, the uncertainity of stock levels and delivery issues). I love pottering around finding bargains that will make my live infinately better of course!!

Sounds a bit like travelling to an Ikea from Norwich! Apart from the boat that is! They ought to offer Ikea franchises...then I'd consider buying setting one up here (and possibly over in N. Ireland too)!!!

Yes, I tend to agree some of the large International or even national chains are not there in NI, saying that though I have seen some beautiful hand-crafted furniture in NI, though not too much of the current trend –flat-pack type furniture. Something IKEA could look into..they usually choose spots just off motorways ..for easy access.
Advantages: Cheap, good quality products using interesting designs Disadvantages: Misleading Customer Services Telephone line, a misleading website and a store with no concept of Customer Services.
